Assembly time reduced by more than 20%.
Muhammad Umair, AirQ’s Team Lead - Mechanical Design and Integration, shared this example at RoTIC Symposium 2026 in Dubai on 14 October.
During the panel on additive manufacturing and reverse engineering for aerospace sustainment, he described how combining parts reduced the number of elements in an AirQ parachute release assembly. The example included components 3D printed using Formlabs equipment.
His point was to follow a redesign's effects through the whole assembly. A lighter component may need extra fasteners, adapters, or structural support that offsets its weight savings. Manufacturing, inspection, and qualification requirements also need consideration.
For AirQ, a change's value lies in what it delivers once integrated into the complete UAV.

As the flight continued into the evening, AirQ’s Flight Operations team monitored its progress from our mobile ground control station and kept everyone involved updated.

The work involves understanding what the aircraft is doing and ensuring that information reaches the colleagues who need it. Keeping the team informed helps each person understand how their part of the operation connects with the rest.

This is where building an aircraft meets the responsibility of operating it.

At AirQ, we develop that experience alongside our UAVs. Engineering, ground systems, and Flight Operations come together in the field, with the team carrying the work through each stage of the flight.

From sourcing a component to developing our own.

Our engineers are developing an Airspeed Sensor Data Unit around the needs of AirQ’s UAVs and our customers.

The goal is consistent data, an adaptable design, and a competitive cost. Bringing development in-house gives our team direct control over how the unit evolves.

Harara’s first payload test came with strings attached.

Filmed in late 2022, this footage from our archive shows the team carrying out a tethered flight test with added payload ahead of outdoor flight trials. The setup allowed the team to observe Harara under load while keeping its movement constrained.

A glimpse of life beyond the working day at AirQ.

AirQ colleagues got together for bowling and a meal. Between turns, some followed the scoreboard, others caught up, and the next player had an audience.

This archival footage takes us back to October 2024, when StingJet completed its first flight test with air brakes.

Developed for in-flight speed control, the air brakes allowed the same target UAV to simulate different aircraft speed profiles and support a broader range of representative training and test scenarios.

Different speeds mean different conditions for detection, tracking, and engagement, and different demands on the systems and operators responding to them.

Built to adapt. Proven to perform.

At GEMS Founders School in Masdar City, we joined students and families for Back to School Day, welcoming a new academic year with notebooks, encouragement, and plenty of room for the questions and ideas still to come.

The day also gave us an opportunity to mark Emirati Women’s Day and recognize the women whose guidance and example help young minds grow.

Two moments, connected by one belief: the future begins with the people we encourage today.

The smoke is easy to see. The value lies in when and how it is used.

StingJet’s optional Smoke Tracking System can be remotely activated multiple times during the same flight, providing a clear visual reference when needed.

During training, it helps ground observers follow maneuvers at a distance or against low-contrast backgrounds. After the flight, the same trail makes key movements easier to identify in recorded footage.

Clearer tracking in the air. More useful analysis on the ground.
