A milestone for Austria’s energy future 🇦🇹

OMV starts gas production at the Wittau well – the most significant gas find in Austria in recent decades. With its first phase, the project can supply the equivalent of around 100,000 households for 10 years – helping ensure reliable energy for the winters ahead.

By investing around EUR 150 million, OMV is also creating local value, supporting skilled jobs, and strengthening expertise in Austria.

The Business Case Day marked the first highlight event, featuring keynote speeches, workshops and case presentations, allowing students to gear up for OMV's „This is not waste“ Case Challenge.

To innovate, we collaborate: Sharing our passion for transformation, students across disciplines from economics and technical universities are shaping solutions for a circular future, as we believe a range of perspectives leads to better solutions.

What does innovation look like in motion?

🎥 Our timelapse video captures the rapid progress of the OMV Innovation Hub Schwechat – a place where ideas will become technologies of tomorrow.

With EUR 65 million invested, this new hub will provide the infrastructure to accelerate innovation – from laboratory research to real-world industrial applications. At around 55% completion, construction is well on track, with start-up planned for the first half of 2027. This is where we bring together expertise, technologies, and partnerships to shape a more sustainable and profitable future.
