That's why we're rebuilding our Weather Briefing from scratch — and we want to get it right. Not from a developer's perspective, but from a pilot's.

🧭 True North or Magnetic – NTA SkyNav supports both. Automatically.

A question we get asked a lot: "Does the app show headings in True North or Magnetic?"

The answer: you choose – and the key difference to other apps: you don’t have to enter the declination manually.

In Settings → Units → North Reference you can select:

✅ True North (default) – GPS-based, the standard in modern ballooning
✅ Magnetic – the app automatically calculates the magnetic declination from your current GPS position

Other apps require you to enter the declination manually – something you need to know, and something you’ll forget to update when flying somewhere new. NTA SkyNav handles it automatically: Vienna = +5.3°, Scotland = different value, anywhere in the world = always correct.

The system uses the World Magnetic Model (WMM) – the same model used by professional aviation navigation systems worldwide. It works fully offline.

No manual input. No user errors. Always location-accurate. Worldwide.
