📝 Submissions for Fingerboards Project EES draft Scoping Requirements to close at midnight tonight.

Prepared by the Department of Transport and Planning, the draft Scoping Requirements set out the environmental, social and economic matters that will be investigated and assessed through the Environment Effects Statement (EES).

With submissions closing tonight at midnight, today is your last chance to review the draft requirements and have your say.

You don’t need to be an expert to contribute. Local knowledge, questions and perspectives can all help inform the scope of the assessment.

📍Environmental monitoring underway this week

You may see our specialist consultants conducting monitoring work around the Fingerboards Project area this week as part of the impact assessment work underway for the Environment Effects Statement (EES).

Here’s what’s happening:

🟢 17–20 August: DBH Radiation will undertake background radiation monitoring along roadsides and on private properties, where permission has been granted.

🟢 19–21 August: AECOM subcontractors will be on GCM-leased land carrying out maintenance on shallow groundwater monitoring wells.

There’s a lot of important environmental and technical studies informing the Fingerboards Critical Minerals Project, and we want to make sure East Gippslanders have direct access to the experts doing the work.

So, we’re bringing the team directly to you through our new Ask the Expert sessions, where you can speak with specialists working across radiation, air quality, surface water, noise, social impact and the overall EES process.

The first round of sessions are running while the draft EES scoping requirements prepared by the Department of Transport and Planning are open for public comment, giving you an opportunity to learn more about each study before having your formal say on what should be assessed through the EES.

Have your say on the Fingerboards Project EES

From 13 August to 2 September 2026, the draft scoping requirements for the proposed Fingerboards Critical Minerals Project Environment Effects Statement (EES) are open for public comment.

Prepared by the Department of Transport and Planning, the draft scoping requirements set out what Gippsland Critical Minerals must investigate and document in preparing the EES.

We encourage everyone with an interest in the project to take part in this Victorian Government-led process and help shape the next step in the project's assessment.

Here’s how to get involved:
🔎 Review the draft scoping requirements
📘 Learn more about the scope of the assessment and the work ahead
📝 Make a submission before the requirements are finalised by the Minister for Planning

Also released today is GCM’s draft Community Consultation Plan (CCP). Informed by extensive engagement and conversations across East Gippsland, the CCP will guide GCM's approach to community engagement throughout the EES process and is available for feedback on the GCM website.
