PROJECT UPDATE: Construction on a new bespoke 26-metre research vessel Incat Crowther has designed for the Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA is progressing well.

These shots, taken at Midship Marine’s Louisiana shipyard, show the vessel taking shape nicely with the multifunctional vessel set to be used by CFCC’s Marine Technology program for extended multi-day and week-long on-water research and education activities throughout the Cape Fear River system and up to 200 nautical miles offshore.

Capable of accommodating up to 24 personnel on multi-day missions or 40 personnel on single-day missions across two spacious and cleverly designed decks, the new vessel will feature a heavy-duty retrieval system comprising an A-Frame capable of lifting a wide range of research equipment up to 8,000lbs (3,629 kg).

In this short video you’ll see Jazirat Dalma and Al Dannah in action – two new aluminium high-speed Ro-Pax ferries designed by Incat Crowther for the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi.

The new vessels, which have been in operation since 2025, service the busy 42-kilometre route between Dalma Island and Jebel Dhanna on the UAE mainland.

The new 56-metre vessels, Jazirat Dalma and Al Dhannah, were built by Penguin International Limited and can transport up to 192 passengers and 25 vehicles at speeds of up to 39 knots.

With sleek catamaran hulls and aluminium construction, Jazirat Dalma and Al Dhannah have been designed to offer speed, stability and efficiency, with comfort and accessibility in mind.

The customer experience has also been prioritised with the inclusion of ample luggage and cargo spaces, a VIP room for eight passengers, two cafés, five bathrooms, and a playroom for children.

NEWS: Spirit of 1733, a new state-of-the-art, EPA tier 4 compliant 32-metre passenger ferry Incat Crowther has designed for the U.S Virgin Island’s Department of Public Works has entered service.

The new vessel is operating on the busy tourist and commuter route between Red Hook on the island of St. Thomas and Cruz Bay on the island of St. John in the U.S Virgin Islands. Capable of transporting up to 300 passengers at speeds of up to 28 knots, Spirit of 1733 has joined two existing Incat Crowther-designed ferries in the U.S Virgin Island’s passenger ferry fleet.

The vessel is equipped with the latest diesel engine emission control technologies in compliance with EPA Tier 4 standards. The vessel features an air-conditioned main cabin and spacious outdoor seating for up to 100 passengers on the upper deck.

Integrated side boarding ramps are provided to ensure safe and efficient boarding and disembarkation to maximise operational performance.

NEWS: Incat Crowther has been selected by Fast Offshore Supply (FOS), one of Asia’s leading offshore marine services providers, to design a fleet of ten new 55-metre DP2 Fast Crew Vessels.

The new vessels will join FOS’s expanding fleet providing offshore personnel and cargo transportation services and will service offshore energy assets in the region.

The new vessels, which will be capable of transporting 80 passengers and a payload of 150 tonnes at speeds of up to 30 knots, will be constructed in multiple shipyards including FOS’s own shipyard in Singapore.

Designed to maximise operational efficiency, the new vessels feature a SMST gangway that enables safe and efficient personnel transfer to offshore infrastructure. The vessels also boast a large 200m² aft cargo deck capable of transporting critical supplies and equipment to offshore assets.

Construction on the new fleet is underway, with the first vessels anticipated to be operational in 2027.

PROJECT UPDATE: Construction is progressing well on two new 100% electric, zero-emission Ro-Pax fast ferries Incat Crowther has designed for Baleària.

The photographs below, taken at Astilleros Armon's shipyard in Gijón, Spain, show España 2030 and Maroc 2030 taking shape – vessels that will form the first green corridor between Europe and Africa when they enter service on the busy Tarifa, Spain to Tangier, Morrocco route.

In these images you’ll see the hull blocks of ESPAÑA 2030 and MOROC 2030 being assembled in Astilleros Armon’s dry dock.

Each vessel will be equipped with an electric power capacity of 16MW, delivered through four electric propulsion units powered by 13,824 kWh battery banks. The ferries will carry up to 804 passengers and 225 vehicles at a maximum speed of 26 knots.

NEWS: In a major milestone, Mercedes Pinto - the third 123-metre dual-fuel Ro-Pax fast ferry designed by global digital shipbuilder Incat Crowther for Spanish operator Baleària - has been tested successfully on sea trials.

Built by Astilleros Armon in Gijon, Spain, the vessel achieved a top speed of 38 knots during trials, with all propulsion and onboard systems performing consistently and in line with design specifications.

Mercedes Pinto is expected to operate in the Canary Islands, consolidating a commitment from Baleària to improve connectivity in the archipelago.

The vessel is capable of transporting 1,200 passengers and 425 vehicles, and features an iterative design built upon the proven and successful platforms of its sister vessels Eleanor Roosevelt and Margarita Salas. Eleanor Roosevelt has been in operation since 2021, while Margarita Salas has been operational since 2024.

Like other vessels in the fleet, Mercedes Pinto is powered by dual-fuel natural gas engines and is future-proofed for a low and zero-emissions future, with the capability to operate on 100% biomethane or green hydrogen blends of up to 25%.

PROJECT UPDATE: In a major construction milestone, US shipbuilder Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) has recently held a keel laying ceremony for the new 43-metre cutting-edge electric ferries Incat Crowther has designed for San Francisco’s Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA).

The new ferries will be capable of transporting 400 passengers and 60 bicycles at speeds of up to 25 knots and will be amongst the most technologically advanced all-electric ferries operating anywhere in the world.

The two new vessels will both feature a modular propulsion system compromising four independent azimuth propulsion units from Hydromaster.

In addition to being technologically advanced, the new vessels are progressively styled with a light, open aesthetic and large windows to enhance the passenger experience.

PROJECT UPDATE: In a major milestone, our partners at Marinteknik Shipbuilders have launched the second vessel in the Hydromover 2.0 fleet. Hydromover 2.0 is an ultra-efficient all-electric light cargo transfer vessel designed by Incat Crowther for marinEV, a business of Yinson GreenTech.

The 24-metre Hydromover 2.0 features an ultra-efficient hull form that maximises range and energy efficiency ensuring the vessel’s operational and commercial viability.

The vessel can carry a 30-tonne payload across its 70m² cargo deck and is powered by a lithium-ion battery.

Hydromover 2.0 also integrates advanced digitalisation features, including real-time analytics, route optimisation, collision detection and automated vessel management systems that helps to ensure efficient and safe operations.
