In November 2019, HIGHLUX installed two of our products the Australian-Made SOLANOVA and the niche-product, SOLABATON, at Little Reserve Playground in Portarlington VIC. The soft illumination, with the high-efficiency optic of the SOLANOVA transforms the space into a welcoming space for evening play. 🌞

Originally planned as an uplighting project to highlight the stunning public art pieces installed in the reserve, we worked with clever project partners to pivot the plan, to not only illuminate the artworks, but also the play space itself. We did this by changing from our up-light option, SOLAVEGA, to an overhead solution with the SOLANOVA.

Portarlington is yet another contribution by HIGHLUX to sustainable solutions in Australia’s outdoor public spaces. 💪🏻 This was a project where thoughtful design, community needs, and solar innovation came together to create a safe and accessible environment for families and visitors to enjoy after dark.

Emerson Place Dog Park gets lights-on for Rowville doggos! 🐶

Knox City Council approached us for a plan for a sustainable, budget-conscious, lighting solution at Emerson Dog Park in the suburb of in Melbourne. The timeline was also tight!

We collaborated with the Council to understand their lighting goals, assessing the park via satellite images and virtual walkthroughs. We noted existing lighting, pathways, car parks, gates, and pedestrian movement. A site visit and walk-through with Council was next to confirm our assessment.

🌞 Our lighting design detailed the number, position, orientation, and height of lights, plus programming to meet objectives. We recommended four SOLANOVA systems with Sylvania StreetLED fittings for optimal light spread and cut-off.

In consultation with Council, we reset the initially proposed positions because we could see the need to illuminate the pathway around the park and the entrance gates at either end for safer pedestrian access. We were able to achieve this without the addition of lights but rather by moving the installation positions and the position of the Sylvania fitting.

Once approved, our partners at Wallgates Electrical Services installed the system in just half a day, with lights on that same night!

The project was completed on time, on budget, and with Australian-made solar lighting. We received the purchase order in early November and finished the job by mid-December thanks to local manufacturing and short lead times! 💪🏽
