Before you price solar, ask this first.

When does your business use the most electricity?
That one question can tell you a lot.

Daytime business? Solar can do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Night-heavy site? Batteries usually matter more.

Simple question. Big difference.

Most businesses start with the wrong solar question.
They ask how many panels they need.

Fair enough. But that is not where the real answer starts.

The better question is this:
When does your business actually use power?

If most of your load happens during the day, solar can do a lot of heavy lifting.
If your biggest loads hit later, battery design matters more.

That is why good commercial solar starts with understanding the site, not guessing the system.

Which one sounds more like your business right now.
Mostly daytime load or heavy night use?

Workshop solar going soft in the arvo?
Righto, now you know what to look at.

It’s usually not “add more panels”. It’s the bottleneck:
• Inverter hitting its limit
• Battery already low by afternoon
• Big start up spikes from welders and compressors
• Shade creep when the sun sits lower

Save this and send it to the mate who blames the panels first.

Workshop power dropping off after lunch?

You’re not imagining it.

This is a classic farm solar issue. You can have plenty of panels and still get sluggish tools in the arvo because workshop loads spike fast. Welders, compressors and saws pull hard and the system can hit limits.

What’s usually going on:
• Batteries are already low from earlier use
• Inverter is tripping or hitting its output limit
• Your tools are drawing more at start up than the system can deliver

The fix is not always “more panels”. Sometimes it’s storage, inverter capacity or changing when heavy loads run.
Save this for the next time the grinder starts sulking.

Tag a mate who reckons more panels fixes everything.

A good off grid system should do more than sit there and look tidy. It should keep a site running properly.

This install at Palm Creek Estate in Yandina Creek uses a 19.4kW Solax ground mount system with 58.8kWh of battery storage to power four off grid cabins.

Reliable off grid power for accommodation, events and daily operations.

That is the goal. Power that works when the venue needs it.

We were on site at Palm Creek Estate in Yandina Creek with Josh and the AusPac Solar team.

This install is a Solax off grid ground mount system that will power four off grid cabins at the venue.

System size:
19.4kW of solar panels
58.8kWh of battery storage

Setups like this allow properties to run accommodation and facilities without relying on the grid.

Reliable power for cabins, guests and day to day operations.

A generator still has a place on farm.

But for a lot of properties, it makes more sense as backup, not the thing running the whole show.

When your house, sheds and pumps all depend on the genny every day, your power setup starts calling the shots. Fuel runs, servicing and constant checks all shape how you use the property.

That is why more farmers are looking at solar and battery systems. Not to get rid of backup power, but to put more control back in their hands.

The sun can handle the day to day load quietly and reliably.

The generator stays there as support when it is actually needed.

That gives you more certainty around key equipment, more flexibility to leave the property and a power setup that works around the farm, not the other way around.

Stop letting the diesel gauge run your daily schedule. ⛽️🚜

Running a farm off a generator full-time means your life is constantly tied to maintenance schedules, fuel runs and the ever-changing price of diesel.

It’s exhausting and it’s exactly what a lot of property owners are trying to move away from.

A good genny still has a vital place on the farm. But it makes a hell of a lot more sense as a backup, not the main worker carrying the house, the workshop and the bore pumps day in, day out.

With a proper AusPac solar and battery setup, the sun takes care of the base load quietly and reliably. Your generator just sits on the bench and only tags in when it’s actually needed.

That means more control over the property, absolute certainty that your pumps will keep ticking and way less time spent playing diesel mechanic.

Stop chasing fuel prices and start taking back your time.

Most businesses ask the wrong question about solar.

They jump straight to system size.

But the better question is this:
When does your business actually use electricity?

That matters because usage pattern shapes the whole outcome.

If your site runs hard during the day, solar can do a lot of the heavy lifting.

If your biggest loads hit at night, batteries usually become a bigger part of the conversation.

That is why good commercial solar starts with understanding the site first, not guessing the setup.

Does your business use more power in the day or at night?

Me in May thinking my solar is still running like summer.

Spinning. Confident. Zero worries.

Then Queensland May shows up and the battery clocks off early.

Not because it’s broken. Because May changes the game.

Quick May checks that save you the nasty surprise:
• Shade gets longer when the sun sits lower
• Panels pick up a dull film from dew and dust
• Evenings start earlier and chew through battery faster
• Inverter alerts and settings matter more now

Do a May tune up before winter bites.
