Thunderbird celebrates two millionth tonne ๐Ÿšข

Last Wednesday, the MV Belle Rose left the Port of Broome carrying more than 46,000 tonnes of zircon and ilmenite concentrate, bound for our global offtake partners.

The shipment included the two millionth tonne of bulk product exported through Broome since we started shipping in March 2024. It was a milestone shipment in more ways than one, as it was also one of the biggest shipments we've ever loaded, the vessel with the fastest tonnes-per-hour loading rate, and the highest number of rotainers loaded in an hour.

Thank you to everyone at Thunderbird and our logistics partners who made this record-breaking shipment possible!

Last Wednesday on WA Youth Day, we were proud to welcome eight young people to Thunderbird as part of a drone photography workshop held by Joombarn-buru Aboriginal Corporation with funding support from the Department of Communities.

Before heading to Mt Jowlaenga to capture aerial images and build their drone skills, the group joined us for a smoking ceremony at Yajarra Jalbiyi Thunderbird village followed by a bus tour of the mine. They learnt more about our operations and the range of careers available in the resources industry.

It was great to spend time with these young people, hear about their interests and see their enthusiasm for learning new skills, exploring opportunities for the future and asking our managers all the hard questions!
