It’s getting to around that time of year again. The switch from running your cooling to running your heating is beginning to take effect and it’s important to ensure your all safe! The first thing we do on any of our heater maintenances is perform a safety check and with any heater maintenance we offer FREE carbon monoxide testing to ensure you and your family can rest easy knowing your safe and sound. Carbon Monoxide. A serious health hazard.

Every now and then we come across something that is genuinely concerning. A customer this week had his gasglow heater serviced last year and was told "they don't make them like this anymore and you would be mad to ever consider changing it out." Luckily when the unit started playing up this year our customer contacted Air Cong because upon a proper inspection we found that this unit not only had cracks on the heat exchanger (the heat exchanger is what separates the carbon monoxide and supply air coming through your vents), but cracks that have visibly opened up into holes. There is no doubt this is a serious health risk and is potentially fatal.

There are MANY gas heaters out there operating with cracked heat exchangers and people are totally unaware of the health risks they may be imposing on themselves and their families. It is important that you not only service your gas heating regularly but also be mindful that the technician servicing these units is performing a safety check on the unit which includes a visual inspection of the heat exchanger.

Not only has our customer ensured the safety of himself and his family. But by installing an omega, Australian made and manufactured unit with 4 star efficiency rating, he is likely to see his heating bills halve!

Not knowing does not help your health once it is taken from you. So please be safe and get your gas heaters serviced regularly by a reputable/thorough business. I have attached photos of the unit and heat exchanger so you can see exactly what this post is in relation too.

So we are getting close to the silly season for air conditioning again.

Here's an evaporative unit that I serviced earlier this week (Before and after servicing). As you can see, they get a bit dirty even though they are "self cleaning". Keeping them clean will help to maintain a longer lifespan on the pads and equipment.
