🔥 What a night at the 2026 Queensland Training Awards!

ForgeAhead Program, Chatsworth Park Ranch, stood on the state stage as a State Finalist for Community Training Initiative of the Year 🏆

Seeing our logo up on those big screens in Brisbane was something special. We started in a forge shed in Gympie with one simple belief: give young people real tools, real mentors and a real chance, and they'll show you what they're made of.

Earlier this year we were named North Coast Regional Winner, and now we're among the best community training programs in Queensland.

A huge thank you to Dan Davie, whose patience and skill at the anvil change lives every week. Thank you to our families, supporters and community partners. Most of all, thank you to our young people. This recognition belongs to you. 💪

We're proud and grateful, and we're just getting started.

🔨 Hammer faces do not just smash metal—they steer it.

The shape of your peen dictates the vector of material displacement:

▫️ Cross-Peen (Directional Flow):
Shaped like a blunt, radiused wedge positioned perpendicular to the handle.
When it strikes, it acts as a fuller, forcing plastic deformation strictly 90 degrees away from the peen line.

Perfect for drawing out bar length quickly without increasing width, or flaring out wide spade ends.

▫️ Ball-Peen (Radial Flow):
A smooth, hemispherical dome.
Displaces hot steel equally in 360 degrees in all directions like a pebble dropped in water.

Ideal for expanding bowl depressions, dome repoussé, dishing sheet metal, and peening rivet heads cleanly.

💡 Rule of Thumb: Use the cross peen to grow length or width in one direction; use the ball peen to mushroom rivets or dish curves.

Our first week back for Term 4 2026..this group from James Nash State High School will come once per week for the whole term and learn disapline and persistence dealing with hot 🔥 fires hot 🔥 steel and hot 🔥 weather..can't wait to see what they can make each week 😀
