August Interest-Free Promo!! House cold? Power bills high? Our most popular winter-oriented products are ceiling insulation and a HEG Ducted Air Circulation System because they work so well together. One retains heat in the home, and the other delivers living room heat to bedrooms overnight. Both save you money by taking the strain off home heaters, and avoiding the need for expensive-to-operate panel heaters in bedrooms.

Both of these are available with NO DEPOSIT interest-free finance for the month of August (subject to finance eligibility criteria via Humm Finance). Installing statewide! Text "interest-free promo" to 0485 866 747 or reply to any quote that we have previously sent you to get the ball rolling.

High power bills?

Hey all, Adam here from heg.com.au along with Timmy (pictured!). A lot of Tasmanians are receiving high power bills at this time of year. As many of you know, we are a local company operating statewide focused entirely on residential energy efficiency assessments & solutions. With our customers, we usually try to look at the simple basics first to reduce your power bills:

1. Tariff optimisation - suggest Aurora Energy tariff 93 for peak and off-peak tariffs. 53% less cost all weekend, during the guts of the day and overnight, although 28% more during peak periods. Free - just call your energy provider.

2. Hot water timer - restrict your hot water cyclinder to cheaper off-peak tariff periods. $150 to $240 depending on a few switchboard factors.

3. Heat Pump Servicing - heat pumps typically lose about 15% efficiency per year, bottoming out at about 65% to 70% efficiency compared to day 1. This is not a filter clean only - its cleaning the fins and coils of the inside and outside units. From $165.

4. Ceiling insulation - the ceiling accounts for up to 35% heat losses during winter. If you insulation levels are 12cm or less in height, or inconsistent heights, get it topped up. Typically increases overnight ambient temperatures by 6 to 7 deg during winter. Supplied and installed about $23/sqm.

5. Underfloor insulation - keeps the cold at bay if you have raised floorboards. About $26 to $30/sqm supplied and installed.

6. Thermal window coverings, typically double celled honeycomb blinds - you won't believe the difference, and it means your heater won't need to work as hard. Can be a few hundred to a $1000 per window depending on a big range of factors e.g. automation, size of window, block-out vs translucent..

Also - don't keep you heat pump on during the day or overnight if you can't feel the effects. Perhaps use a timer to turn it on earlier in the morning. If you have a Ducted Air Circulation System, that's a different matter... at least the wasted heat from the living room is felt in the bedrooms overnight.

Use power bill savings to finance investments

Many people tend to put these items on a no-deposit interest-free finance package as the savings on the power bill pay for, or substantially offset, the repayments e.g. spend $50/wk for 3 years to save $50+/week on avg power bills, but be more comfortable in the process (with better air quality). Results vary depending on many factors, but all of our investments save you money by lowering your annual power bills.

Send a text to HEG 24/7 on 0485 866 747 with contact detlails to get some obligation-free advice, or to arrange a quote for any of the things mentioned above.

At HEG, we typically advocate for an all-electric & efficient appliances household so that you can benefit from generating, storing and operating with electricity i.e. you can't use solar power to offset a wood heater or an instant gas hot water system, but you can of you used a solar battery system to run a reverse cycle air conditioner and a heat pump hot water system.

This case study from Victoria is interesting as it factors in real world examples, including the purchase of electric vehicles and loan capital and interest repayments for the energy efficiency investments.

If you'd like to discuss options for your home, start the journey by texting or calling HEG on 0485 866 747 or visiting heg.com.au

The small tourist town of Yackandandah, or Yack, in Victoria's north-east has taken the renewable energy transition into its own hands.

About 68 per cent of rooftops in the town now have solar installed, with residents reducing their power bills by 62 per cent on average, according to Totally Renewable Yackandandah co-founder Matt Charles-Jones.

He says the upfront cost of installing a solar and battery system, which costs around $15,000 after the federal government's battery rebate, remains a significant barrier for some households.

Across Australia, households living in fully electrified homes spend, on average, $4,100 less each year than those still running on gas appliances and a petrol vehicle, according to a 2025 Rewiring Australia report.

More electric vehicles are being purchased in Tasmania, so HEG has noticed a big uptick in our EV Charger division. Whether you are seeking sales, installation or simply seeking advice on which EV charger will suit your home or business, call or text HEG on 0485 866 747 (press #1 for sales).

Common questions include the comparable charging rates of trickle charging (plug into a household 10A power point) vs 7kW single phase wall-box charging vs 22kW three-phase charging.

We like to discuss how fast do you need the vehicle to re-charge, your usage habits with the EV (e.g. driving every day to/from work vs mostly weekend driving with low kms in-between), how close to a suitable power source can your EV park, what current solar inverter or battery system you have, what energy tariff plan would work best with your requirements, and what charging schedule may be most pragmatic.

In many instances, a formal EV charger isn't even required, but we'd love to chat to you soon to discover what best suits your requirements. Team HEG.
