A lovely heritage renovation completed last week using Italian manufactured tubular steel radiators supplied by Australia.

We bolted the radiators through the floor with polished SS bolts to prevent drilling wall brackets into the over a century old walls.

It turned out really great.

A repair job installed by others near Paradise Falls in the Victorian ranges was completed yesterday.

This brand new floor heating system has a wood boiler that the customer could only idle low due to it starting to boil if opened up. The heat from the boiler wasn’t entering the home properly and started blocking the flue with creosote after only 3 months of use. It had obvious water bypass issues.

We attended and removed a few unnecessary things and made some other secret changes.

On leaving, the system was finally running at full capacity. The flue, boiler and new customer will be more than happy for years to come.

On the way home we did the trek down to the Paradise Falls. An amazing place we both definitely recommend seeing.

We love what we do.

A ground floor heating and first floor radiator system was completed today ready for plaster and paint.

All upstairs bedrooms will have slave independent temperature control by using low voltage actuators on the manifold that is installed inside a 90mm wall cavity. No lost cupboard space.

We tried a new Pocket Screw system to fix the radiator pipes accurately and solidly during construction and it’s pretty great. We will definitely use this system moving forward.

Seeing a road accident this week we are thinking about road safety things. We travel a lot.

Our current Sprinter van is 12 years old and is very safe being an ex NSW Ambulance. NSW have better safety options than the Victorian ambulance’s so we imported it from NSW. Ex NSW ambulance’s have about $15k of safety options over other states.

I spent some time the other day to see the vans we have had over the last 20 years. Looking back we have had a couple of close calls.

15+ years ago I brought a Toyota Hiace van for local work but the guys were involved in a local 80kph accident and rolled over. If it was 2 seconds before that car hit them in the side they would have been in bad shape leg wise.

After that accident we have only used vans that have the engine and front suspension in front of the people in it to offer some protection. The last 2 vans I’ve added a bull bar as well.

Regards, Shannon.

A pretty bad truck crash happened in front of us today. I sent the dash cam video to the police this afternoon. The policeman said everyone survived but the tray truck driver has pretty bad leg injuries. Only a few seconds later and it would have been us. 🙏🏼

Another 2 Hydronic Air to Water heat pumps completed today.

First job was to remove a diesel boiler and replace it with a 15kw single phase HydroAir R290 Monoblock Heat pump. Customer wanted it in the old boiler location so some bricks were removed no problem.

The customer is a welder so another row of bricks will be removed at the top and a grill with a lintel will be installed by them to suit the final hole size.

Second install was a several year old house with unused floor heating circuits that have not been used until today.

We oversized the heat pump a bit to allow using the excess solar PV to heat the floor during the day and not feed it back into the grid for 5c per KWH. A 22kw 3 phase HydroAir R290 Monoblock Heat pump was the unit of choice.

The marketing tags are as follows;

This existing 45kw boiler was oversized and only lasted 10 years. That’s a very poor unit lifespan.

The old 45kw unit only modulated down to 15kw at its lowest gas rate. That’s what we think destroyed the unit heat exchanger so soon. Constantly cycling on and off etc.

This new Immergas InTec V2 30kw gas boiler has 5 levels of gas modulation down to 6kw. This is important for efficiency and the life of the unit.

After our new installation was running for about an hour she was running between a 12 to 18kw gas rate from a stone cold slab. I’m expecting it to mostly run between 6 to 12kw low output from now on.

We set the water flow temperature to 40c but can be much lower for hydronic floor heating.

We spaced out the new unit from the wall to suit the flue position from the old boiler due to it being a flat roof with solar PV everywhere.

A off grid system was finished today before plaster.

The best way to get the plasters, tilers and painters etc. onsite in the cold winter of the Victorian ranges is to have heating.

After a couple of hours lit the was doing its job very well from stone cold.

- Wood boiler is a 50kw Belvedere with the cool optional glass door. 👍🏻

- 400 litre Mains pressure SS storage tank with a internal coil heat exchanger heated by the wood boiler was provided by .

- All oxygen barrier floor coil pipe and manifolds were supplied by from Italy.

- Fully insulated flue was provided by using there fantastic RSF interlocking flue system.

Another rescue job that has never worked as designed was changed and fixed this week.

This home has 100% zoning on all the floor circuits.

The original installation had a 2 port volume adding tank that did absolutely nothing. The air to water Heat Pump tripped out constantly on a low flow rate fault when too many zones were closed. Not ideal.

We attended and fixed it by removing the existing 2 port tank and replaced it with a 4 port 200l buffer tank that provides correct hydraulic separation with a secondary 60W circulation pump to feed the Home.

No more low flow fault codes ever.👍🏻
