Would you think this is a big deal? Or did you even spot the damage?

The difference between these two propellers might look minor, but when it comes to drone operations, even small signs of damage matter.

Before and after every flight, we complete checks of our aircraft to assess its condition and identify any wear or damage that could impact safety, performance or efficiency.

Propellers are just one of the components we inspect, and if something doesn’t look right, it doesn’t fly.

Maintaining our equipment is a simple but important part of making sure every flight is safe, reliable and ready for the job.

Safe flights start before the drone ever leaves the ground.

Today we attended RESOURCE INDUSTRY NETWORK (RIN) at Harrup Park.

It was great to get out together, connect with others in our local industry and hear more about the work Aurizon is doing within our region.

One thing we always enjoy at these events is the conversations that come from people seeing what our specialised thickness testing and 3D imaging drone can actually do.

We always get plenty of questions about its capabilities, particularly when it comes to inspecting confined and hazardous areas. It’s exciting to hear others in the industry agree that technology like this is a step in the right direction for safer, more efficient inspections and better quality data.

Katrina is currently studying to get her own drone licence… mostly so Rob can stop being bossed around over getting the *right* angle.

Until then, he flies. She directs.

Did you know Katrina, our Operations Manager, used to own a gift hamper business?!

Before joining our family business at 2 Burts Industries, Katrina spent over four years building her own gifting business — and apparently, those hamper-making skills don't just disappear.

Recently, we've been proud to donate hampers to CQ Rescue and My Hospital Foundation, which gave Katrina the perfect excuse to pick up the heat gun again.

At 2 Burts Industries, we love capturing our region, supporting safer workplaces and working with businesses across our community — but we also love being able to give back to the organisations and people who make our community what it is.

Supporting local will always be important to us.

What is an Anemometer?

Basically… it tells us how windy it is!

An anemometer measures wind speed, helping us check that conditions are suitable and safe before sending the drone up.

It might be a tiny piece of equipment, but it plays an important part in our pre-flight checks.

Because when it comes to flying drones, “she’ll be right” isn’t a weather assessment we are willing to trust.
