Last night I had a job turn up aswell to get a few bits & bobs done.
GWS204 in for regular maintenance. Customer supplied fluids and filters. Brand new RYCO air filter, oil filter and cabin filter, with Nulon engine oil!
Customer had a concern with front coilovers being a bit uneven in terms of ride, upon inspection found that front left to right, height and preload were as unevenly set, which I had corrected for him and also raised slightly.
I had sourced brand new rotors and pads for the customer and fitted them up too, however upon final steps of completion, fitting brand new rear brake pads to the rear right caliper, the caliper was inspected and determined it was seized in position, therefore when new pads were fitted, caliper was dragging on the new rotor, therefore advised customer the bf vehicle had to be towed home. Premature wear was showing signs of uneven heat distribution on the inner side of the rotor and more wear on the inner brake pad too.
Sad to see the car having to go home this way but customer is on his way to sorting out a repair/replacement caliper. I was unfortunately unable to replace the caliper and perform the bleed and flush procedure as the vehicle requires Toyota specific software to do the bleed and flush of brake fluid process which I do not carry/have on hand.
Customer is definitely happy with my service and care but unfortunately it is sad to see this happen, customer is in process of dealing and organising the process of warranty work to be carried out by the previous people he’s purchased the car from.
Glad we caught the seized caliper now than later.
Drive safe everyone! Have a good weekend
