Australia is leading the world, in our view, in solar and batteries for homes and businesses. Our STC and state grants are expensive, but the carbon offset from this is allowing the necessary closure of coal and gas plants. Carbon Capture is extremely expensive and a still unproven technology.
The UK, for example, still has a committment to spend $40bn, yes $40bn, on this over the next few years.
Imagine if they set up a grant system similar to Australia using those funds to offset their carbon footprint, rather than trying to bury it deep underground. OK a lot less sun than here, but new biffacial panels are extremely good at low light power production, and prices are almost the same as standard panels.
Solar and battery grants here are allowing some homes to have zero bills, except a supply charge. What will it cost you to eliminate your power bill? [email protected]
Carbon Capture and Storage, once seen as a lifeline for the oil and gas industry, is facing mounting doubts as delays, high costs, and poor performance cast serious doubts on its future viability.
