As one of Anderson’s Directors, Sarah leads the charge on both project and client management. She knows every project inside and out, she’s the kind of person you want in your corner. We managed to sit her down long enough to get a few insights into her work:
What are your main tasks each day?
- Working with our team and suppliers to cost projects for tender.
- Liaising with clients, architects and suppliers about design detail, pricing, timelines and documentation.
- I work quite closely with our clients as an extended part of their team, site visits, helping them to understand the parts of the building process they may not fully understand, find efficiencies and track progress.
- I’m also responsible for organising all the fun stuff - permits, compliance, insurances and contracts.
If you weren’t working at Anderson, what would you do?
I studied building design so was to close to going down that path. Otherwise, I throw a good party, so maybe something in events!
Honest thoughts about working with your siblings?
It’s easy. When everyone’s good at their job and is accountable, it just works. We have a lovely work environment so we’re very lucky.
What part of a project is always your favourite?
When the joinery and stone are going in. It’s an exciting time for the client, they’ve usually put a lot of love and effort into their decision making and getting to this point so it’s nice to see it all come together. Happy clients, happy me!
