Do you know which steel mesh your job actually needs?
SL62, SL72, SL82, SL92 — there's a logic to these grades, and getting it wrong means pulling up concrete.
Here's the short version:

SL62
Paths and garden slabs only. The moment a car drives on it, you need the next grade up.
SL72
Driveways and garage floors on stable ground. If you're on reactive clay, go SL82.
SL82
The standard for house slabs. If a structure sits on it, this is your baseline. Full stop.
SL92
When the engineer specifies it, or when you're on highly reactive soil and want confidence the slab holds long term.

The most important rule: if the job is engineered, order exactly what's on the drawings. Don't substitute grades to save a few dollars — it creates liability and structural risk.
For DIY jobs where you're making the call yourself, soil matters more than most people realise. Clay and sand can sit on the same street, and your block might be very different to your neighbour's. When in doubt, go up a grade — the price difference per sheet is small, the cost of cracked concrete is not.
