QLD Smoke Alarm Deadline is Approaching – Is Your Home Compliant?

From January 2027, all Queensland homes must meet updated smoke alarm legislation.

Smoke alarms aren’t just a requirement, they’re essential for protecting your home and family.

Quick check:

Are your smoke alarms working properly?
✔ Do they meet current QLD legislation?
✔ Are they interconnected throughout the home?
✔ Are your smoke alarms over 5 years old? (Time to check or consider upgrading)

Many homes still have outdated or non-compliant alarms that will need upgrading.

What the new legislation requires:

- Photoelectric smoke alarms
- Interconnected alarms throughout the home
- Installed in every bedroom, hallways, and on each level
- Must comply with Australian Standard AS 3786-2014
