Does diesel still have a place in the future of site power?

The answer isn’t simply yes or no. For many industrial operations, diesel remains a reliable and familiar energy source, but it doesn’t always need to run continuously.

By integrating UON HULK®, sites can use diesel more strategically, reducing generator runtime, fuel consumption, operating costs and emissions while maintaining reliable power. Moving towards cleaner energy doesn’t have to mean abandoning what already works.

Clean. Quiet. Connected. What does that actually mean on site?

Clean: Reduced reliance on diesel, helping lower fuel consumption and site emissions.

Quiet: Less generator runtime and significantly less noise across the worksite.

Connected: Real-time visibility through UON Remote Monitoring, with performance data, diagnostics and reporting available when it’s needed.

Three simple benefits. One smarter approach to industrial site power.

Reliable energy matters to regional communities - it supports local businesses, industry, essential services and the people who rely on them every day. With many regional areas continuing to experience power reliability challenges, energy security remains a key issue across Western Australia.

Yesterday, UON welcomed Mr Shane Love, Member for Mid-West and Leader of the Nationals WA, Mrs Kirrilee Warr, Member for Geraldton, and Hon Julie Freeman, Member for Western Australia, for a tour of our manufacturing facility and a discussion on the energy challenges and opportunities facing regional WA.

Building on projects such as the Geraldton Airport Microgrid, we discussed how local manufacturing, innovation and integrated energy solutions can help deliver more reliable and resilient power for communities across the Mid West and beyond.

We always appreciate the opportunity to share what our team is working on and contribute to conversations about the future of energy in regional Australia.

What is on your site that you simply cannot afford to lose power to?

Most sites have critical equipment or operations where an outage is more than an inconvenience. It can stop work, create safety risks and cost serious money.

If your current power setup has no real backup, or it has grown into something nobody feels completely confident in, it is worth reviewing before a problem forces the conversation.

Get UON on site. We'll look at how your operation runs, what needs protecting and where UON HULK® could support a stronger power plan.

Let’s figure it out before you need it.

Today our teams across UON came together to support R U OK? Day and reinforce the importance of looking out for one another.

Across our sites and offices, teams participated in presentations delivered with support from MATES in Mining, encouraging open conversations about mental health, connection and looking out for your mates. We also proudly displayed MATES flags across our operations, with employees signing their commitment to supporting one another and helping create workplaces where people feel able to reach out when they need support.

Our site teams recognised individuals who lead by example through the "Check-in Champion" initiative, celebrating those who consistently take the time to listen without judgement and support their teammates when it matters most.

Whether it was attending a toolbox presentation, signing a commitment, checking in with a colleague or simply starting a conversation, every action helps strengthen the culture of care we continue to build across UON.

At UON, our success is built on the people who show up every day, support one another, and embody our values in everything they do.

On Friday night, we celebrated our sixth annual Top Gun Awards, recognising outstanding employees whose commitment, service and contributions make a lasting impact across our business.

The winners have all been nominated by colleagues and recognise team members who exemplify UON's values of Safety, Simplicity, Accountability, Positivity, Teamwork and Client Service each and every day.

UON is proud to congratulate our 2026 UON Top Gun Award winner, Paul Toomath.

Since the program began, we've received more than 529 nominations from team members recognising the achievements, dedication and positive impact of their colleagues. It's a powerful reminder of the culture we've built together and the people who make UON what it is.

Congratulations to all finalists, nominees and winners and thank you for the difference you make every day.

What if you could power demanding industrial equipment with less diesel, less noise and greater flexibility?

Introducing UON HULK®, our battery energy storage system (BESS) designed for construction, mining and industrial operations that need reliable power in tough environments.

UON HULK® can handle high peak power, fluctuating loads and continuous operation, while providing a cleaner and quieter alternative to traditional diesel generation. It can also be integrated with generators, solar, hydrogen and existing site power systems to support site-specific energy requirements.

Backed by intelligent controls and 24/7 remote monitoring and reporting, UON HULK® gives operators greater visibility, improved reliability and the flexibility to adapt as energy needs evolve.

Strong remote operations start with connected infrastructure. which is designed to work together. UON connects energy, water, controls and support into one coordinated solution, built around what the site needs now and able to scale as the operation grows. That means fewer gaps, clearer accountability and infrastructure that keeps working as demands change.
