Timing – how your builder schedules and makes sure trades are on time

​Timing is everything when it comes to construction. A house doesn’t just happen in one go—it’s a chain reaction of jobs that need to be completed in the right order. The slab needs to be poured before the walls can go up. The roof frame needs to be finished before the roof sheeting is installed. The electrical and plumbing rough-ins need to be done before plasterboard goes on. If one trade is late, the flow-on effect can cause major delays for everyone else.

Your builder is the one carefully planning and adjusting that schedule every step of the way. They’re on the phone with the concreter, booking in the bricklayer, and making sure the electrician knows precisely when to arrive. They’re also checking the weather forecast, because in Perth, the rain can stop an outdoor job in its tracks. If it looks like a wet week is coming, they’ll reshuffle so trades that can work inside get priority.

This scheduling is a lot more complex than it seems.
