Rip Buoy was born, after Managing Director Neil Wallace witnessed a drowning at an unpatrolled beach on Australia's Mid North Coast. Neil felt that there had to be a way that a passive device could be deployed in areas such as this to improve the chances of survival of people caught in rips. Despite their popularity there are many beaches that remain unpatrolled in Australia. Neil commenced resear

ching what lifesaving aids existed around the world and could not find any devices that fitted the bill. Using his extensive knowledge of marine engineering Neil commenced designing a Buoy that could be fixed in known rip areas and could operate safely in a variety of surf and weather conditions. From this Rip Buoy was born.
