Some projects leave very little room for error.

Looking back at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) — a major cultural project designed to meet the performance, technology and community needs of Far North Queensland.
With its complex theatre spaces, fly tower, large-span structure and demanding acoustic requirements, coordinating building services presented a unique challenge.

🔹 The challenge:
Mechanical services needed to be coordinated through complex, high-level theatre spaces where access can be difficult, and clashes can have significant consequences once construction begins.

🔹 Draftech’s involvement:
Our team provided mechanical modelling, coordination, clash detection and detailed shop drawings, helping identify and resolve potential conflicts before installation.

🔹 The result:
Better coordinated services, clearer construction information and greater confidence that systems could be installed as intended.
It’s a great example of why early coordination matters — particularly when working in complex spaces where fixing an issue on site can be far more difficult than resolving it in the model.
