Top 3 reasons for rework on your project:
- Change Orders / Client Changes
- Design Errors / Incomplete Plans
- Poor Communication and Coordination

The biggest threat to your project budget is your current workflow.

With 60+ years of experience and countless hours of trial and error, our purpose-built Draftech workflow improves efficiency and productivity by reducing rework, eliminating repetitive tasks, and lowering costs—delivering streamlined processes and better project outcomes.

Draftech is perfectly placed to help our clients to develop efficient BIM systems and documentation to meet project deadlines while adhering to the important and complex requirements of BIM.

“Draftech delivered very high-quality Revit models and associated 2D documentation at key milestones, working to a tight budget and in strict accordance with the Architects’ BIM requirements.
Not only did they deliver the quality we expected, but they also understood engineering and could adjust the design and assist with detailing, which saved us time and avoided lengthy checking and markups”

Your project can have productive people — and still be unproductive.
Why?
Because productivity isn't just about how fast people work.
Sometimes it’s about how long they spend waiting for information, chasing decisions, checking drawings, attending alignment meetings or redoing work because something changed.
Communication moves information. Collaboration moves projects.
Our latest blog looks at the often-invisible productivity losses created when construction teams aren't working from the same understanding — and what better collaboration can look like across design, coordination, procurement, construction and handover.

FROM REALITY TO BIM
Turning existing conditions into better project decisions.
The value of Scan to BIM.
Laser scan data captures the physical environment.
We transform that data into a usable BIM model.

The result?
🔹 Reduce uncertainty – Work from accurate existing-condition information.
🔹 Improve coordination – Identify potential issues before they become site problems.
🔹 Reduce rework – Make decisions based on what is actually there.
🔹 Work more efficiently – Streamlined workflows and standardised outputs help keep projects moving.
🔹 Create a digital foundation – Provide your project team with reliable information they can continue to use throughout the project lifecycle.

At Draftech, our experience in BIM, modelling and construction workflows means we understand that an accurate model is only valuable when it supports better project outcomes.

Capture it. Model it. Coordinate it. Build with confidence.

A question for everyone working in construction:
When is a problem cheapest to fix?
Most people would probably say before it reaches site.
But how much emphasis do we actually put on finding those problems early?

A design conflict might take minutes to resolve in a coordinated model.
On site, that same issue could mean trades waiting, materials being changed, work being redone, an RFI being raised, and the programme being pushed.

That's one of the reasons we're so passionate about Digital Engineering and BIM.

Not because a model is impressive.
Not because having more data automatically makes a project better.

But because the right information, at the right time, can help people make better decisions.

At Draftech, our work sits around that connection between the digital model and what ultimately needs to happen on site — coordination, documentation, fabrication, installation and handover.

Good BIM shouldn't just represent a project.
It should help the project run better.

What are you seeing on projects at the moment?
Where are the biggest opportunities to prevent problems before they reach site?

Brisbane 2032 has officially moved from planning to delivery — and the construction challenge is already underway.
New venues, major upgrades, transport overhauls, precinct redesigns… the scale is massive. But the real pressure isn’t the concrete. It’s the digital capability needed to coordinate thousands of workers, contractors, agencies and assets under an immovable Olympic deadline.
The legacy of the Games won’t be the stadiums. It will be the digital foundations Queensland builds to support every project that comes after.
If you work in the AEC industry, this moment matters.
Here’s what Brisbane 2032 is already teaching us — and why digital engineering will shape the next decade of Australian infrastructure. 👇 Brisbane 2032: The Construction Challenge Has Begun

Project Flashback – Early BIM Implementation
The Challenge:
Draftech was engaged to establish systems that could meet strict BIM requirements while allowing a changing team of drafts people to work efficiently.
With a project of this scale, we identified several areas that could quickly create unnecessary cost and risk:
• Maintaining control of hours and costs across different project sectors
• Repetitive modelling tasks consuming valuable drafting time
• Ensuring models remain consistent with project standards
• Getting teams to regularly share and update their models
• Making coordination decisions quickly and impartially

The Solution:
We implemented a structured approach to BIM management.
⏱️ Timesheet & Cost Control
Timesheet control provided budgets across each sector, daily visibility of costs and weekly reporting—giving the team a clear picture of where the project was tracking.

⚙️ Draftech Revit Workflow System
We applied our Revit Workflow System to reduce repetitive work and provide the team with a consistent process from the outset, helping prevent standards issues further down the track.

🔄 Weekly Model Sharing
Models were shared and processed weekly, keeping the wider team aligned and providing greater visibility across the project.

🤝 Independent Coordination
Coordination was managed by an impartial third party with an understanding of services coordination. This helped facilitate quicker decisions and fairer outcomes between the project teams.

The Outcome
The result was a more structured and controlled BIM environment—giving the team greater visibility over time, cost, standards and coordination while supporting a changing drafting team.

“Draftech has proven to be a valuable resource to this project and their systems and efforts have assisted us greatly in meeting the requirements of this project” – Tom Purdon, Managing Director, MPM Group

When consistency matters, the difference is in the delivery.
The Challenge:
Our client had experienced ongoing difficulties with:
•Receiving quality Revit models from contractors
•Meeting agreed delivery timeframes
•Maintaining consistency between expectations and actual delivery
The result? Delays, additional coordination and uncertainty throughout the project.

Our Solution:
Draftech brought a structured and professional approach to the project, with a clear focus on:
✔️ High-quality Revit modelling
✔️ Accuracy and attention to detail
✔️ Meeting agreed timeframes
✔️ Delivering within budget
✔️ Professional communication and accountability
We didn't just aim to complete the work — we committed to delivering exactly what was agreed.

The Result:
High-quality work. Delivered quickly. On budget. Exactly as promised.
“What a breath of fresh air to work with Draftech. Not only did they deliver in a very short time frame, they also produced exactly what they said they would, on budget” – Project Manager
