In this weeks’ we take you to the HQ of Urban Outfitters.

With the key objective of bringing the company’s entire workforce into a single location, the creative brand chose to reinvent an industrial strength ship yard to serve as an epic backdrop for their design studios and corporate offices. The goal was to create an equal and flat working structure with a mix of large open and enclosed interiors and studio spaces for collaboration, interaction, and presentations.

A rich tapestry of old, and new, the campuses’ purpose, and aesthetic mirrors the brand – creative, entrepreneurial, and unique. Who doesn’t want to work surrounded by larger-than-life balls of yarn, and walls loaded with buttons? 🧵👕

More than just a pretty face, a notable statistic found employee morale and wellness improved, and turnover dropped after the move – a great example of the power of well-considered office design 🙌

IT’S ALL ABOUT TIMING ⏱️

The defining factor = time. Allowing enough time for research, scoping, negotiations, design development, approvals, make good and project delivery can make or break your budget, sanity, and success of your future workplace.

Throw in a side of complexity of project, property condition, trade avails, and lead times, and you have yourself a chunky timeline. We recommend the ideal timeline from start to finish is indicative of the size of your space.
