Toodyay District High School's musical stars unveiled. Delighted to see the fruits of Chalice's Community Investment Program. Applications open until March 30, 2026. Click the link for more information. https://www.gonnevilleproject.com.au/community/community-investment/

An exciting day for the inaugural Toodyay District High School Year 4 String Quartet players as they received the instruments they will be learning on for the year!

Led by WAYACHAMP Director Sophie Curtis, this pedagogically innovative program will see students learn violin, viola and cello together as a quartet right from the start — introducing the benefits of ensemble playing and bringing string learning to the school for the first time. They have even been booked for their first gig!

Based in the Wheatbelt, 86 km from Perth, Toodyay District High School is a vibrant regional community where access to specialist string tuition is limited, making this opportunity especially meaningful.

Teaching is supported by local violinist Rupert Guenther and school teachers/musicians Shuang Ali and Belinda Allen.

This project has been made possible thanks to the Chalice Gonneville Project.

06/02/2026

It was a special moment for Toodyay District High School and Head of Music, Shuang Aliaga, as students selected for the String Quartet Pilot Program were introduced to their instruments and talented professional tutors for the first time.

Watched by their proud parents, four primary students selected their string instrument of choice; the cello, viola, or violin and enjoyed a first taste of the music to come.

The String Quartet Pilot Program will introduce professional string tuition to Toodyay District High School with opportunities for the wider school community to engage in music. Over 40 weeks, the selected students will participate in intensive quartet learning through a mix of face-to-face and online lessons delivered by the WA Young Artists Chamber Music Program.

Chalice Mining is thrilled to support this intensive learning opportunity through our Community Investment Program. The next round opens February 1 - March 31, 2026. For applications visit our website: https://www.gonnevilleproject.com.au/community/community-investment/

Exciting news from our hollow!

After the December 2025 fire near Moondyne, we are so pleased to report the freshly hatched baby Carnaby and family are alive and well.

We don't know if it's a 'he' or a 'she,' but the chick is flourishing and on track to leave in the coming weeks. The latest images from our surveillance cameras show mum and how close the fire came.

Over the last few years, we’ve been working with Dean Arthurell from Carnaby’s Crusaders and Syrinx Environmental to test 10 artificial hollows at the Gonneville Project site. We’re monitoring how well the design attracts breeding cockatoos compared with natural hollows. This is the second chick successfully hatched and raised in one of our artificial hollows.

We look forward to sharing more photos in the coming months.

As many in the Toodyay community will know, a fire occurred in the Gonneville Project area, west of Plunkett Road on Saturday evening.

From our initial assessments, the fire was confined to predominantly Chalice-owned farmland with minimal structural impact. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA (DFES) continues to investigate the cause, and we are working closely with the investigation team. The affected area remains under DFES control, and access is currently restricted.

We are extremely grateful for the outstanding efforts of DFES and our local brigades in responding to and controlling the fire under such challenging weather conditions. While there was no loss of life or significant impact to infrastructure, we acknowledge there is likely to be impacts to flora and fauna.

Once the situation is downgraded, Chalice staff will be on-site in the coming days to further assess the impact and implement any other mitigations to ensure the long summer ahead is as safe as possible.

The Chalice Toodyay Shop will be open again this Thursday 8:30am - 11:30am if you would like to connect in person. Please note that this is the last day the shop will be open before the Christmas break. We will be back on Thursday 5th February, 2026.

On Monday, we released the Gonneville Project Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) confirming a long-life and globally competitive critical minerals mine in WA.

The study outlines a multi-decade operation with strong economic potential. Gonneville will create significant local employment and training opportunities, and a continued commitment to environmental management and responsible development in the region.

The Project now moves into the next stage of assessments, approvals and ongoing community engagement.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please drop in to see Julia at the Toodyay Community Office on Thursday, or visit our website: https://www.gonnevilleproject.com.au/

Like many grey nomads, Geoff and Jane hit the road in March this year on a six-month adventure that began in Sydney, up to Queensland, across to Darwin and down the WA coast to play golf.

What sets this couple apart is that Geoff and Jane are both deaf. Geoff has a platinum bionic ear implant and Jane wears traditional hearing aids, and they were heading to play in the Australian Deaf Golf Championships at Joondalup Resort in November.

As long-standing Chalice shareholders, they made a deliberate beeline through the Wheatbelt to visit the Toodyay Shop and chat with Julia about the progress of the Gonneville Project. With three grown children and nine grandchildren, Geoff and Jane have a very personal appreciation of not just the stock price but the importance critical minerals play in technology that improves daily lives.

We absolutely loved meeting them and, of course, no visit to Toodyay would be complete without a mandatory stop at the Toodyay Bakery.

Loaded up with goodies, Geoff and Jane headed off to play some serious golf before travelling back across the Nullarbor with a copy of the 2025 Chalice Mining Annual Report, for a bit of light reading! Safe travels.

The dust was barely settled on her award, when WA 'Local Legend' Roz Davidson popped into the Chalice shop in Toodyay to load up her car with essential pantry items.

Chalice was thankful to gift Toodyay Locals Care (TLC) with multiple boxes of pasta, tinned food, herbs, sauces and other supplies to provide their regular service.

The 'big prep' is underway for TLC's Christmas Day lunch at the Showground Football Pavillion. Served with all the trimmings from Noon, the Christmas lunch is $12.50 but Roz says, "only if you can afford it". TLC has many sponsored seats, and everyone is welcome.

"We cook for 300 and what doesn't get eaten is distributed to homeless and elderly across the Valley," Roz said.

TLC's vital grass roots work gives hope to cancer patients, dignity to homeless individuals and creates a purpose for volunteers. We think Roz is living proof of her message, “Be kind.”

What a blooming view from the Chalice Toodyay shop today. There’s only 4 more Thursdays until we close for the Christmas break. From 8:30-11:30am, you can call in and see Julia. No question too big or small.

It was an inspiring day at the Gonneville Project site when Year 10 students from Toodyay District High School visited as part of the Australian Earth Science Education Wheatbelt Engagement Program.

Harrison, Julia, and Matt from Chalice kicked off the day by explaining how the Gonneville resource was formed, the importance of its minerals in everyday life and what future jobs could look like for the local community.

Students then visited the discovery hole, pausing for a minute’s silence for Remembrance Day, before heading to the Biodiversity Offset Area with the Syrinx team to explore nesting boxes, pit trapping and native plant studies.

The day wrapped up at the Core Farm, where students tried their hand at core logging using the X-Ray Fluorescence.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the excursion happen - we hope we’ve inspired a few budding geologists in the group!
