Fermentation – The active state of hydrolysis where bacteria (LAB) in water will break down the protein (fish waste) in an anerobic environment (oxygen free). Our fermentation takes between 4-6 weeks. Unlike Fish Emulsion, Fish Hydrolysate doesn’t undergo heating and removal of fats and oils which the beneficial microbes and fungi love.
Our Fish hydrolysate is fermented using fish waste that is locally sourced. It is minced and mixed with sugar/water and uses lactobacillus to break down the protein into bioavailable food for the soil and plants. The fermentation process is highly active for the first 4 to 5 days then stabilises.
When diluted, it is an ideal soil conditioner and fertiliser, can be added to compost, inoculate seed prior to planting and as a foliar application during plant growth.
