To mark World Radiotherapy Awareness Day this year, we're asking the question that sits at the core of what we do:

Can Advanced Radiotherapy Be Accessible to Everyone?

Registrations are now open to join us for a special forum on Thursday 3 September.

We're bringing together consumers, clinicians, researchers and leaders from across the radiotherapy community to explore how we can ensure advances in radiotherapy reach the people who need them.

We're thrilled to welcome Sandra Turner, one of the founders of World Radiotherapy Awareness Day, alongside experts from Image X, consumer representatives and leading voices from across our community. With the wonderful Julie McCrossin AM as our host, we know it'll be an engaging and insightful afternoon.

The forum will feature panel discussions, audience Q&A and a showcase of innovative research, with opportunities to connect over refreshments and canapés afterwards.

Our technology was featured on television last week as part of a story highlighting the work of Central Coast Local Health District in bringing advanced cancer treatment technologies to people with liver cancer.

Led by Image X, the LEARN Trial is investigating AI-powered tumour tracking technology that could help make real-time image-guided radiotherapy more accessible, without the need for invasive procedures or specialised treatment systems.

Congratulations to the many clinicians, researchers and staff involved in demonstrating what research translation and clinical collaboration can achieve!

We're extremely proud to be working towards our goals under Paul's leadership, and chuffed to see him and the team in the spotlight! Our researchers are developing new radiotherapy technologies to become robust, affordable and ready to install in 90% of cancer clinics across Australia and globally. The Translational Program Grant represents a momentous step in our ambitious journey towards benefitting 90% of radiotherapy patients in NSW, and globally.

🏆 OUTSTANDING CANCER RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR 🏆

Congratulations Professor Paul Keall!

We are delighted to share that Professor Paul Keall, Director of the Image X Institute, has been awarded the 2025 NSW Premier’s Award for Outstanding Cancer Researcher of the Year, the top prize for cancer research in NSW. This honour recognises his exceptional leadership and sustained impact on cancer imaging, radiotherapy innovation, and equitable patient outcomes across New South Wales.

This marks a significant week of achievement, following Professor Keall’s receipt of the NSW Premier’s Prize for Leadership in Innovation just days ago. Together these awards reflect the depth, influence, and translational power of his work.

All of us at Image X congratulate Paul on this well-deserved recognition and acknowledge the impactful community of researchers, students, collaborators, cancer consumer partners, and industry and clinical teams who contribute to this impact-focused research program.

We are thrilled to share that Professor Paul Keall, Director of the Image X Institute and NHMRC Leadership Fellow at the University of Sydney, has been awarded the Premier’s Prize for Leadership in Innovation at the 2025 Premier’s Prizes for Science & Engineering

All of us here at Image X are proud to see Professor Keall receive this well-deserved recognition. We can wholeheartedly attest that his leadership is indeed advancing scientific research and innovation.

This award recognises Professor Keall’s outstanding leadership in developing world-first cancer imaging and targeted radiation therapy technologies, and his commitment to translating these innovations into clinical practice for the benefit of patients in NSW and around the world.

Professor Keall’s work has:
• Improved the lives of millions of cancer patients
• Generated major economic and workforce benefits for NSW
• Led to 40+ patents, 20 licences and multiple globally available medical devices
• Supported 13 clinical trials, including eight first-in-human studies
