Today BMD joined the UNIQ You - Aus 2025 International Day of the Girl Fundraising Breakfast. Now in its fourth year, the event raises vital funds to help girls from less-advantaged regions across Australia connect with Advisors and explore pathways into STEM and careers in construction. 👷‍♀️

BMD Project Manager and UNIQ You Advisor Lauren joined BMD Sustainability and Indigenous Operational Lead Rebecca on a panel discussion, sharing insights and stories about the barriers young women can face when pursuing opportunities in our industry.

Enter the "STEM Against the Storm" Innovation Challenge 🌧️

Resharing an exciting opportunity: the **STEM Against the Storm: Queensland Flood Innovation Challenge** is now open! This statewide competition invites Queenslanders of all ages to develop creative solutions that help communities predict, protect, and rebuild in the face of floods.

Participants can focus on:
- Prediction & Early Warning (e.g. forecasting, alerts, Indigenous knowledge)
- Mitigation (e.g. infrastructure, animal safety)
- Recovery (e.g. clean-up, resilience)

Entries can take the form of:
- Prototypes or physical models
- Videos or animations (≤3 min)
- Written plans or data analysis (≤1000 words)
- Storytelling or oral history (≤3 min)

🏆 **Prize Categories**
- Primary School (12 years and under) – $200
- High School (13–18 years) – $300
- Adult (18+ years) – $500
- Team Category A – $500 For family or intergenerational teams
- Team Category B – $500 For school groups, community teams, or other collaborations

📅 Entries close **15 October 2025**, with winners announced by **14 November 2025**.

🚫🪓🌲 Save the Waddi Trees

One of the world’s rarest and most unique trees, the ancient Waddi Tree (Acacia puece), grows right here in Birdsville. Some are more than 500 years old – and they are a protected species. 🌵✨

Please help care for them by not cutting trees on public land in the Diamantina.

🔥🪵 Need firewood? Pick up sustainably sourced supplies from local businesses including Karrawa Wirinya Coffee and Birdsville Tourist Park.
