**DIRTY DEEDS UNCOVERED**
Have you heard WPA members tell the media they were promised a seawall and they have been poorly treated by Council over so many years? Do you remember their call for action on a seawall? Do you remember Adam Crouch MP running to theiir aid? We will follow up this post with some greatest hits.
SOS commissioned solicitors to conduct title searches on WPA beachfront properties to uncover the truth. Guess what we found? Many WPA properties are bound by positive covenants and indemnities on their title deeds that prove the WPA has been promoting a whopping lie. The deeds reveal some WPA owners owe Council and the community, Council does not owe them any protection. Deeds stipulate:
- Owners were aware of the risk of builing on a frontal dune
- Owners accepted all liability for sea storm damage
- Owners are required to replace sand lost in storms and revegetate their properties after storms at their expense
- Council can inspect and order owners to restore their dune frontages with sand and revegetation, not a seawall, at the owners' expense.
It is all on the WPA.
The WPA has perpetuated Wamberal's greatest con. The community won't have it.
Please write to Council to complain and insist that Council order property owners to honour their covenants to restore sand and vegetation along their ocean frontages as they are legally obliged to. Why is Council backing a seawall, wasting ratepayers' money, when land owners are obliged to maintain their properties with sand and vegetation?
