Do you live in or near a bushfire prone area? A pre-fire season clean of gutters is a must - but remember that leaves and twigs will still be found after that initial clean so also give gutters some extra attention throughout the warmer months to keep them free of combustible debris.

Washing out gutters pushes mud and leaves into the downpipes, so make sure you flush the whole stormwater system through with clean water.

🏠🔨⚠️For home buyers on a tight budget, a sloping block of land may seem like an affordably priced option compared to forking out more for a flat block nearby.

But while sloping land might offer million-dollar views and a cheaper purchase price, it can come with site challenges and higher construction costs.

Most land slopes from one end of the block to the other. Generally, a rise or fall of 3 metres or less across the building area is manageable for most builders, but anything beyond that can see the cost of building to start rising. Retaining of cut surfaces, and/or filling, is expensive and not for DIYers.

🌞Do you embrace the power of the Sun?☀️

A lack of moving parts means solar power systems are generally very reliable. But if they have been damaged or the system fails for some reason then it can lead to a loss of power generation - and in extreme cases an exposed wire could create an electrical arc and start a fire.

🏏❄️ Panels can be damaged from objects like a cricket ball or large hailstones, while faulty installation can lead to water leaking into the roof cavity from where panels are mounted.

⚠️Other common problems relate to wiring – so if there are any power shorts or corroded wiring then it will need to be professionally repaired.
