Did you know it takes around 18 to 24 months to turn seawater into salt?

Up at Mardie in the Pilbara, we pump seawater from the ocean into a big network of evaporation ponds and let the sun and wind do a lot of the heavy lifting. Our team checks the water every single day, because salt won’t crystallise until the brine hits just the right density.

Since filling our first crystalliser in March, we’ve been growing the salt pavement that will carry our harvester and fleet, and the ramp-up continues!

Our September 2026 Quarterly Report is out, and it’s been a quarter of momentum at Mardie.

Salt continued to build in our crystallisers, construction reached 90 per cent, and two major milestones took the Port of Mardie to 98 per cent complete. Swipe through for the highlights of the quarter.

🆕Australia's largest industrial salt operation is now growing salt.

The Mardie Salt Operation has moved from construction into operations, with first salt growth marking the start of a new chapter for BCI Minerals and for the Pilbara. Mardie remains on schedule and on budget, and behind that result is a high-performing and values-driven team.

Meet our Peer Support Team. 👋

Yesterday we got together for R U OK? Day.

Today, we launch our Peer Support program.

Earlier this year we asked for volunteers to become BCI's first Peer Supporters. Ten people put their hand up, and they've now completed their training with TELUS Health.

They're spread across our Mardie Salt Operation and Potash Project and our West Perth office. They're not counsellors. They're colleagues who know the rosters, the pressures and what a hard day looks like, and who've trained up to be there when someone needs a chat.

🙏To our ten Peer Supporters, thank you. It says a lot about a workplace when people step forward to look out for each other.

It's two of our values, Be Part of Something and Win as One Team, in practice.
