Today, TVN On-Country acknowledges National Sorry Day - a time to reflect on the deep injustices experienced by the Stolen Generations and to honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families, and communities.

We pay our deepest respects to the survivors of the Stolen Generations and stand in solidarity with all those continuing the journey toward justice and healing.

TVN On-Country is proud to have completed the design and construction of new modular housing units and updates to existing homes for Waddi Housing and Culture Centre tenants on Wiradjuri Country, in Darlington Point, NSW.

We were pleased to work with some outstanding local trades on this social housing project including First Nations businesses CRF Plumbing and Cottom Electrical.

Our team and delivery partners did an outstanding job liaising with tenants to ensure they were well informed and involved in the process as the project progressed.

It was rewarding for the project team who experienced first-hand the excitement of families and Elders moving into their refurbished and newly built homes.

We committed to 20% of our project hours being carried out by First Nations people. This target was exceeded:

βœ… total project hours by First Nations people – 4,055 or 39%
βœ… total number of First Nations people on the project – 14 (11%)

Big shout out to our awesome client rep Tamileigh Chirgwin and all the local trades who worked hard to deliver a great result. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) from 27 May to 3 June is our sign to get ready for the most important date in the TVN On-Country calendar.

Every June we bring the whole team together for our Safety and Culture Day where we deepen our understanding of traditional knowledge and foster a greater appreciation for the heritage of First Nations peoples - an essential part of our reconciliation journey.

This year’s NRW theme is 𝗔𝗹𝗹 π—œπ—» which we admire so much we have also adopted it as the theme for our team day.

MD Jebb Hutchison said: β€œI’ll tell anyone who will listen that together we are stronger and that’s pretty much the National Reconciliation Week message this year in a nutshell.”

β€œEvery conversation we have about advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights, about supporting self-determination for mob, it all contributes, whether it’s with a family member, work colleague, client or friend.”

The NRW start and end dates are no accident; they commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum, and the 1992 High Court Mabo decision.

TVN On-Country has completed the first stage of a refurbishment project for the AHCSA - Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia (AHCSA) at its offices on Kaurna Country in Tarndanya (Adelaide).

The works focused on transforming an underutilised, low-light office area into a contemporary, accessible workplace aligned with the values and aspirations of the organisation.

AHCSA is the peak body representing Aboriginal community-controlled health services in South Australia. Its role is to be the β€˜health voice’ for all Aboriginal people in the state by advocating for the community and providing support for Aboriginal health programs.

The refurbishment was thoughtfully designed by our sub-contractor BELL Architecture, with subtle nods to culture and Country, the space reflects a deep connection to land and place.

Rich river blues echo the flowing waters of the River Torrens (Karrawirra Parri) while the carpet artwork by Sam Gollan (Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna) weaves in powerful symbolism of unity and storytelling β€œinviting audiences into a world where tradition and identity are honoured”.

The stage 1 completion marks the first milestone in a broader 3,000mΒ² refurbishment. Design development of Stage 2 is now underway.

Another life changed! 😎

Meet Mason from Albury who has begun a carpentry apprenticeship with our Employment Pathways Partner, Wodonga commercial builder, TVN On-Country, after a successful work experience placement in 2025. πŸ‘ŠπŸ½

He’s also just gained his Ps on our Driver-Mentor Program. πŸ…ΏοΈπŸš™

Mason said: β€œMy biggest goals in life were to become a carpenter and get my licence. I have now got my licence, and I am on the way to becoming a carpenter.”

How awesome is that? πŸ’«

We want more First Nations youth to consider construction as a career. Yarn 'n' Grow is a great program for us employers to be part of and connect with young mob. Looking forward to the follow up session!

Great to bring Workforce Australia Providers Asuria Australia, MADEC Australia and CVGT Employment, On-Country Pathways , training providers Wodonga TAFE , TAFE NSW and local construction employers TVN On-Country and First Scaff together in Wodonga on Monday, with a shared focus on supporting First Nations participants entering the Yarn’N’Grow program next month.
Thank you to Ray Thompson, former NRL player for leading an honest and engaging Cultural Intelligence session, and to all attendees for contributing to the open and respectful discussion. Strong partnerships like these are key to creating meaningful employment pathways for First Nations.

An amazing $8,000 raised by the Days for Girls Albury Central NSW AUS Team to make sustainable, washable menstrual kits and provide health education for girls and women around the world to combat period poverty and stigma. These kits help girls stay in school and receive an education. We are proud to support this event. Powerful stuff πŸ’œ

What does it take for our region to be genuinely, sustainably competitive in the economy that is being built right now?

The Regional Futures Forum up on the NSW/VIC border in Thurgoona last week posed this question to panellists including our MD Jebb Hutchison who started
TVN On-Country with two friends in a rumpus room on the border in 2017.

Business representatives came together at the Regional Development Australia Murray event to consider what it means to operate from a regional base and what it takes to achieve that competitive advantage.

Panellists shared the decisions, the hard moments, and the lessons they have learned building ambitious businesses in regional Australia.

Jebb spoke about the untapped potential of First Nations business and the importance of creating a pipeline of Indigenous talent that will lead to generational change.

TVN On-Country set out to do this in 2022, when it established non-profit On-Country Pathways, offering employment pathways for young mob.

A great two days of shared experiences exploring energy, manufacturing, supply chain, workforce, water, circular economy, artificial intelligence, sovereign capability, and regional leadership.
