I booked a two day long range course with Jay at Orange Accuracy last month and never told anyone I was a gunsmith.

No mention of the workshop, the dealer’s licence, or the years of training behind me. I signed up as a student and kept quiet, on purpose.

Two reasons. Walk into a classroom as “the gunsmith” and you stop being taught, you start being consulted, and you rob yourself of the thing you paid for. And the fastest way to stop improving at anything is to decide you have already arrived.

Safety first. Data always. Ego never.

It was one of the best presented and best executed courses I have been on anywhere, in any field. After all these years there were still things I had never heard explained that way before.

And on day two, cold and soaked, I had a morning that humbled me completely.

The full write up, including why I sat the entry level course on purpose is below, have a read and look up the team:

Can’t beat a fresh tank. Salts up to temp, clean distilled rinse, oil to finish. It’s a science and an art, but it isn’t a secret.
