Remembering September 11 (9/11): A Story of Resilience and Engineering Legacy
"Some Engines are more than engineering – they become part of history."

Today, as we mark 25 years since the tragedy of September 11, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including courageous firefighters, rescue workers, and other first responders. We honor their memory and the extraordinary resilience shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

During a visit to the Waukesha factory, our Managing Director Syed Salman Masud Sir had the privilege of standing beside “The Survivor” a Waukesha L5792DSI Enginator recovered from the World Trade Center.

The World Trade Center’s emergency backup power installation ultimately included six Waukesha units.
👉 On September 11, 2001, they came online once again in an attempt to provide emergency power, operating briefly until the collapse of the North Tower buried them beneath the rubble.

Of the six engines, three were damaged beyond repair, two were rebuilt for further service, and one was returned to Waukesha and preserved as “The Survivor” a lasting symbol of reliability, resilience, and engineering legacy.
