A cooling tower is a heat rejection device that expels waste heat to the atmosphere by cooling a stream of water. They are commonly used in industrial processes, power generation, and HVAC systems.

Cooling towers work by taking warm water from a system, spreading it out over a large surface area, and exposing it to air. As the water is cooled through evaporation, the cooled water is then recirculated back into the system. There are two main types of cooling towers:

01. Open cooling towers, where water is exposed to the air, allowing evaporation.

02. Closed cooling towers, which use a heat exchanger to cool the water without direct exposure to the atmosphere.

Cooling towers are essential for maintaining efficient operating temperatures in various applications, helping to prevent overheating and improve energy efficiency.
