As we move through the dry season in Bangladesh, we often see a frightening spike in fire incidents. While we often blame "short circuits," the root causes usually go deeper—rooted in poor electrical practices and neglect.

Too often, electrical work in our country is left to untrained technicians using sub-standard materials.

🔥 Why Accidents Rise in the Dry Season
The dry months (Winter & Spring) are critical. Low humidity and dust create a dangerous combination:
Dust Accumulation: Thick layers of dust settle on distribution boards and sockets. This dust acts as an insulator, causing components to overheat, or can become conductive, leading to internal arcing.
Loose Connections: Temperature fluctuations cause wires to expand and contract. Over time, this loosens screws in your switchboards, leading to sparks. In the dry air, one spark can ignite a fire instantly.
Brittle Insulation: Cheap wire insulation dries out and cracks faster in low humidity, exposing live wires.

Safety is a choice. Here is what you must do:
✅ Annual "Health Check": Have a qualified electrical engineer inspect your Distribution Board (DB) and tighten all loose connections.
✅ Clean Your Panels: safely remove dust from switchboards and breaker panels (turn off the main power first!).
✅ Check Your Earthing: Ensure your grounding resistance is within safe limits (below 5 Ohms).
✅ Use BNBC Standards: Always insist on wiring that follows the Bangladesh National Building Code.
