Empowering local, circular & bio-based textiles This will be realised by a holistic approach covering all necessary levels.

The HEREWEAR project aims at the creation of an EU economy for locally-produced circular textiles and clothing made from bio-based resources. On the technical side, emerging sustainable technologies for wet and melt spinning of cellulose and bio-based polyesters, for yarn and fabric production and for coating and colouring will be developed and piloted at semi-industrial scale. Further, we aim to

significantly reduce the microfibre release via measures along the textile manufacturing process. Further, we will maximise the sustainability and circularity of our clothing via connecting regional microfactories and by platform-supported, networked production resources. Guidelines will be provided to support the design of fashion goods; with focus on bio-based materials and reuse/recycling.

At the recent Avantex Fair in Paris, part of , invited attendees to discover 20 garments made from biobased materials, incorporating circular design principles in European production systems. This initiative is part of the EU-funded HEREWEAR project, which combines biobased, local, and circular ideas, summarized in three self-standing posters.

Today, a full range of nearly 40 tools, guidelines, and stories is available for everyone who wants to explore this path. These resources are accessible upon registration at the website herewear.tcbl.eu, offering a unique opportunity to delve into the world of sustainable materials and circular design.
