⚜️ Masterpieces from the Duinen Abbey are being restored by IPARC ⚜️
The 17 panels immortalize the portraits of counts and countesses of Flanders to whom the Duinen Abbey owes much since its origin in the 12th century. The earliest panels date from the 15th century, and the series continues uninterrupted through the 18th century. Among those portrayed are Abbot Johannes Crabbe and Maria of Burgundy, key figures in the 15th century.
There are very few examples in the Low Countries of such an extensive set of grisaille (gray-toned) paintings. The restoration is being carried out in close consultation with the members of the Masterpieces Council.

Strange discoveries - Atelier Bouts
As a follow-up to the extremely successful exhibition on Dieric Bouts, the next exhibition around the Flemish Master from Leuven has now opened at Museum M.
It looks beneath what the eye can see!
Revealing research and imaging perspectives behind the painter and his art.
This joint project of M Leuven, IPARC and KIK allows you to discover everything about the practice of Dieric Bouts through six iconic artworks.
Find out how he made them, the composition of the various layers, whether Bouts is the sole mastermind behind the works we attribute to him, and how they have been restored in recent times – some 500 years later.

IPARC SDG Pioneer

IPARC stapte in 2021 in VCDO 
(Voka Charter Duurzaam Ondernemen).

Op basis van een actiejaarprogramma zet je zo stappen richting een meer duurzame, inclusieve en sociale bedrijfsvoering. Zo draag je als onderneming ook bij aan de 17 duurzaamheidsdoelstellingen van de Verenigde Naties, die door 194 landen internationaal werden geratificeerd.

IPARC kreeg op 26 oktober het Unitar-certifcaat van SDG Pioneer. Dit is echter maar het startschot, want met de SDG's als leidraad willen we verder blijven bouwen aan een duurzaam en toekomstgericht bedrijfsbeleid.

De Topstukkenraad en curatoren Thomas Leysen en Ben Van Beneden vieren 20 jaar topstukken in Vlaanderen met een 'toptentoonstelling' in het MAS onder de titel 'Zeldzaam en onmisbaar'.

IPARC mocht in de aanloop naar tentoonstelling een aantal van deze topstukken onderzoeken en restaureren.

Onder andere de schitterende bozzetti (voorontwerpen in klei) van de hand van Lucas Faydherbe voor de reliëfs van de Hanswijkbasiliek van Mechelen, een kaakreliekhouder uit de kerkschatten van de Sint-Catherinakerk in Maaseik (ism restaurator Dietlinde Peeters) en het imposante 17de schilderij van de hand van de Noord-Nederlandse kunstenaar Hendrick Ter Brugghen.

Mmmm Arabierekes!!

IPARC had het genoegen het vooronderzoek en de restauratie uit te voeren van het logo van de iconische Caramella Mokatine, in de volksmond gekend als: Arabierekes. 

De Arabier is een verwijzing naar Arabica koffie, het belangrijkste bestanddeel van het snoepje. Het snoepje is nog altijd in productie en wereldwijd gekend.

Op de poort vonden we zo'n 16 verflagen terug! Het oorspronkelijke logo hebben we vrijgelegd en geretoucheerd. Dit logo dateert van rond 1937.

De letters Confiserie Roodthooft werden nieuw geschilderd.

Het resultaat kun je gaan bekijken in de Lange Leemstraat 374-376, niet ver van Berchem station. Vergeet zeker niet omhoog te kijken naar de prachtige Art Nouveau gevel.

De voormalige fabriekszone wordt een woonerf met woningen en kantoren.

David Lainé, senior partner painting conservation & research, mocht vandaag voor het Ensor Research Project, een radiografische opname (X-ray) maken van het topstuk De Intrige (inv nr 1856) van de Belgische kunstenaar James Ensor, dat behoort tot de collectie van het KMSKA (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen).

Het werk dateert uit 1890. Met deze beeldvormingstechniek wil men de verschillende doeken van Ensor en hun materialiteit gaan vergelijken door het opstellen van 'weave maps' van het textiel.

Deze onderzoekstechniek levert relevante data ifv authenticiteit, datering en de relatie tussen kunstwerken binnen het oeuvre van een kunstenaar.

Nu zondag 23/4 Erfgoeddag bij TrainWorld in Schaarbeek.

Onder de titel 'kleine beestjes, grote zorgen' kunnen bezoekers meer te weten komen over welke schade insecten kunnen veroorzaken aan collecties en hoe deze problematiek aangepakt wordt door restauratoren, collectiemanagers en archivisten.

De mobiele kamer van ICM zal zondag daar ook te bezichtigen zijn tussen 10 en 16u.

Protect your art by ecological warm air treatment for insect pests

We started the restoration of the marouflages (wall/ceiling mounted paintings on canves) of 'Le Bains Thermal de Spa'.
The name Spa originates from the Latin Aquae Spadanae.
Known as the “Pearl of Ardennes”, Spa nestles in a pretty forested valley, source of its world-famous bottled waters. Its healings springs, the pouhons, have been frequented since the 14th century.
Spa was a popular meeting place for the nobility and European bourgeoise, being known as the Café of Europe.
After restoration we'll install the marouflages in situ in the decorative ceiling.
