Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project – Metro Vancouver 🚆

The Province of B.C.’s Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project is a major transit infrastructure expansion currently underway south of the Fraser River in Metro Vancouver.

Doka is supplying custom steel girder formwork solutions for the construction of the elevated guideway structure. The scope includes formwork systems for more than 300 R1 Decorative Tulip Piers.

The Tulip Pier formwork solution was engineered using Doka’s all-steel modular steel girder system, designed for use in infrastructure elements such as columns, piers, pier caps, beams, retaining walls, and culverts. The system supports large-panel applications and is designed to accommodate extended spans and efficient assembly and stripping cycles.

The formwork design was developed to meet the specified pier geometry and architectural requirements, with a focus on achieving consistent concrete finishes through a steel formwork approach.

Doka’s engineering and project teams worked in coordination with the contractor to support the formwork design, planning, and ex*****on for the defined construction scope.

WHAT IF the best journeys are the ones where we grow together?

10 years ago, Richard Hall joined Doka in Calgary as a second-year carpentry apprentice. Today, he is Supervisor of the Calgary Pre-Assembly team – a role he stepped into three years ago – while also bringing his experience as a CNC programmer and operator to the team.

For Richard, one of the things that makes his work at Doka special is the opportunity to build unique formwork for specific customer needs. And throughout his own journey, mutual respect among colleagues has helped him navigate the communication challenges that can arise between Deaf and hearing people.

Richard's progression from apprentice to supervisor reflects something we value at Doka: many of our partners have grown with us. And vice versa.

Outside of work, you'll find Richard travelling, working on his own carpentry projects, swimming or enjoying a video game.

Congratulations on 10 years with Doka, Richard – and thank you for everything you've contributed along the way! 👏

⛳ Supporting our community at the 2026 Bird Construction Inc. Charity Golf Tournament!

Doka was pleased to sponsor a hole at this year’s tournament at Sturgeon Valley Golf & Country Club in Sturgeon County, Alberta.

Together, participants helped raise approximately $90,000 for the Boys & Girls Club, bringing the event’s total funds raised to $250,000 👏

At the Doka hole, we welcomed participants with a co****le challenge, Doka swag and treats. Elvis Basic and Steve Reitenbach also joined the action on the golf course.

Events like this give us the opportunity to support the community while connecting with customers and industry partners. Many of our partners have grown with us, and vice versa, and we value the relationships that continue to develop through experiences like these.

Modern living is taking shape at Fairway 11, just outside Halifax 🏗️

This new multi-residential development will deliver 330 residential units across three towers built on a shared podium, with views overlooking the award-winning Brunello Golf Course.

Together with Lancor Concrete Contractors Ltd., Doka Canada is supporting construction using slab formwork Dokadek 30, helping the team maintain an efficient workflow as the project progresses.

Every project has its own challenges, and when it really matters, our solutions make it work.

Faster construction. Less labour. Outstanding results. 🏗️

Doka Canada was proud to partner with Dyzano Contracting on the Johnson Fresh Farms deep drainage pit tank project near Barnwell, Alberta.

With very tall wall sections to construct, conventional plywood forming would have required significant labour, time, and material. Instead, the team used the Frami S Xlife wall formwork system to streamline the process and reduce waste.

By assembling large wall sections on the ground and lifting them into place with a crane, the crew was able to complete the project much faster while using minimal lumber. The finished walls remained plumb, straight, and delivered an excellent concrete finish.

“Being able to gang form tall wall assemblies on a flat and clean working surface and hoist them into place effortlessly with a crane” was one of the biggest time-saving advantages noted by Brad Oskam, Owner of Dyzano Contracting.

Great teamwork and planning helped make this project a success from start to finish.

A solid foundation starts with a stable support system.

Doka Canada was proud to partner with JHP Concrete Construction Limited on the Tenth Street Corner condominium project in Canmore, Alberta.

With a taller-than-average slab and shoring required on a gravel surface, the project needed a solution that could provide both speed and stability. Using Doka Super props and Bracing frames, the team created a strong, rigid support structure that was quick to assemble and easy to work with.

The customer noted that the stability of the system was one of its biggest advantages, providing crews with a sturdy and secure work environment throughout construction.

John Henry Palmer, Owner of JHP Concrete Construction Limited, shared that “the system performed extremely well,” and highlighted the simplicity of the setup as a key factor in helping streamline the project.

The combination of stability, ease of assembly, and minimal components helped create a smooth and efficient construction process.
