What could have been a beautiful photo has a very sad back story. I went out to check on the chickens first thing and there were feathers everywhere. A predator got through the fence last night and the chickens that weren't in the trailer were attacked. Our best guess is 51 chickens were lost last night...very very sad morning around the farm tonight.

As farmers we take protecting and caring for our animals very seriously and at these times the should have, could have, would have creep in. But the fact is this happens and all we can do is pivot and find a better way to keep the ones we have left safe. I don't think we will sleep very much over the next few nights.

Cinnamon buns made with our einkorn and spelt flour!

It's taken a while but I finally found a recipe that made fluffy amazing cinnamon buns. Still some learning experiences with this recipe but we are so excited!

These taste amazing and fill you up! The flour has more flavouring and I really think more nutrients because anything I make with the flour keeps our family full for way longer but doesn't feel dense!

Does anyone else have something brought down from another generation that you never thought would give you a sense of peace?

Mine is cutting up the meat for the kids with scissors...my Oma (aka grandma) would always do this for my brother and I. She passed away just over a year ago and every time I do this for my kiddos I know she is looking down smiling 🥰

She was a feisty little Belgium farmer that came to a new country with her husband and created the most beautiful life 💗

Planted our "trying something new this year"!

Last year we planted some corn seeds when we transplanted the pumpkins in the patch. This is because of the three sisters rule (I'm getting yelled at by my littlest supervisor so Google it if you don't know 🤣).

Some grew but no cobs so we know it will grow. This year we will try to transplant the ornamental corn!

So fingers crossed we will have decorative corn for the picking this year at the patch!! 🌽🎃🥰

Looking for more egg customers !

We have mainly brown eggs but have a smaller amount of different cream and green colours.

Or chickens are free in our barn during the very cold months and then they get to be out on fresh grass for the majority of the year.

We are a small farm located just outside of Brandon and have multiple options for pickup and drop offs. We also have weekly subscription spots that give you two benefits!
