👀 Quick reminder for the framing crews — a 2 minute walk-around can save a full day of downtime.

Before the boom goes to work, take a quick visual check:

🔧 Look for fresh hydraulic leaks on hoses, cylinders, and fittings
🛢️ Check for rubbing hoses or cracked outer jackets
⚙️ Watch for loose pins, missing clips, or worn attachments
🔋 Inspect battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections
🛞 Give tires a quick once-over for damage or low pressure

Small issues rarely stay small. A hose seep turns into a blowout, a loose fitting becomes a no-start, and a worn part usually fails when the site is busiest.

After a long winter of cold starts and lots of idle time, this is when booms start showing it:

🛢️ small leaks that got ignored
🔧 hoses that are cracking or ready to go
⚙️ fittings and lines that didn’t like the cold

Winter is hard on equipment — even if it “made it through.”

Now’s the time to deal with the small stuff before jobs are in full swing and a simple hose turns into full downtime.

❄️ Alright crews we have been lucky so for this winter but we have another cold spell coming remember cold starts kill equipment.
If you’re firing machines up and sending them straight to work, you’re asking for seals, pumps, and valves to fail.

Proper cold-weather warm-up checklist:

• Let engine idle until coolant begins to rise
• Cycle hydraulics slowly — boom, steer, aux circuits
• Avoid full throttle until hydraulic oil temp increases
• Watch pressure spikes & listen for cavitation
• Give transmissions time to build temperature
• Grease points more frequently in extreme cold

Cold oil = thick oil = high pressure = broken parts.

We keep machines running when winter tries to shut them down.
