We recently installed a hidden immobilizer switch on a telehandler that prevents the machine from starting unless the switch is activated.

Anyone working around construction equipment knows that many machines use common or easily accessible keys. A key alone isn’t always enough to prevent unauthorized use—or someone from simply taking the machine.

🚨 Mayday call — mini excavator overheating.

Got the call and headed out to see what was going on. Found a failed belt that had taken the cooling system out of the equation and caused the machine to overheat.

Tore it down, replaced the belt, put everything back together, and got it tested.

Fortunately, this one was a relatively quick repair and we were able to get the customer back up and running in no time. 🔧

🔧 Another cylinder back where it belongs.

🌧️ Customer complaint: the Ingersoll Rand vib wasn’t vibing.

Showed up on location to a machine that had lost its vibration function—and, of course, it was absolutely pouring rain. Because apparently the weather likes to get involved in diagnostics too. 😂

After working through the controls, we found the culprit: a broken wire at the frequency control.

A quick electrical failure can bring a machine to a complete stop. Found the problem, repaired the wiring, tested the vibration system, and got it back to work.

Another diagnosis, another machine back in action. 🔧

🔧 Things always seem to come in waves… and right now, it’s cylinder rebuilds.

The last little while has been busy with hydraulic cylinders from telehandlers and other heavy equipment.

🔥 A small exhaust leak can turn into a major electrical failure.

Took a service call for this Ford F-750 with the 6.7L Power Stroke after the battery cables caught fire.

The root cause wasn’t the cables themselves. On some F-750s, the exhaust outlet at the back of the DPF can crack or break. When that happens, hot exhaust is directed right at the power and ground cables routed nearby. Over time, the insulation can melt, exposing the cables until they eventually short together. We managed to put the exhaust back together and gusset/support it better.

Fortunately, the driver was able to get the fire out before it spread and caused more extensive damage.

If you own or manage one of these trucks, it’s worth taking a few minutes to inspect the DPF outlet and the wiring in that area. Catching a cracked exhaust early could save you from a breakdown—or worse.

Stay safe, and don’t ignore small exhaust leaks.
