Not every basement window project is the same.
This one was especially challenging.
We installed two egress windows in load-bearing foundation walls. Both openings required engineering approval and structural reinforcement.
One window was reinforced using a steel angle lintel. The second window was installed higher than usual, with part of the opening extending into the wood framing. Because of that, a standard steel angle wasn't an option. Instead, we built a custom wood header reinforcement designed specifically for this project and approved by the engineer.
This project also features PlyGem Comfort Line windows. I've only recently started installing this series. While they cost more than the Base Line, they come with triple-pane glass, improved insulation, and a much stronger frame, making them a great choice for energy efficiency and long-term performance.
