Hi folks! My name is Brendan Duffy and I am approaching my last year at the University of Alberta School of Business working towards a degree in Marketing. Sustainable and ergonomic design has always been at the forefront of any project I have worked on, and being able to work with the AEC team and help students get involved in the energy sector really excites me! Aside from academics, I love to spend a majority of my time eating good food and sleeping, but I also enjoy playing music, making art, and golfing. I look forward to seeing what solutions teams are able to produce as this years VP of Communications!

My name is Aman Tiwari and I am in my first year of a Masters Program at the University of Alberta, with a major in Chemical Engineering. I have just finished my first term and I am actively seeking an internship opportunity. Moreover, I have one and half year work experience in Reliance Industries limited (India’s Leading Petrochemical and Refinery Group). In Addition to AEC, I am Co-Chair of the 2019 Faculty of Engineering Graduate Research Symposium (FEGRS) Organizing Committee. I am extremely excited to be AEC’s VP Internal this year and hope that my contributions can help make the competition a successful event!
The foremost reason I decided to get involved with AEC is that I have a background in oil & gas and this is great opportunity to know more about the current industry scenario and network with industry professionals.. I think that AEC provides an effective platform for students to work towards typical industrial case and share innovative solutions for such a dynamic and controversial industry, one which is very important to Alberta’s economy!
As well, I love to travel! I went to Lake Louise and Banff last month, it was a mesmerizing experience. I love doing bhangra too.

My name is Anson Groberman and I am the VP Finance for this years AEC team. Currently I am enrolled in an accounting major and psychology minor. I hope to work in an accounting or consulting role in the future and possibly start my own firm. I have competed in several case competitions and I wanted to see what it was like from the other side to organize one so AEC was an excellent fit for that reason. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar and writing my own music.

Hi! My name is Mackenzie Reeves and I am the VP Events for the 2019 AEC team. I am currently taking an Engineering degree with a major in Mechanical Engineering. I hope to one day be a project manager, either in oil and gas or utilities. I chose to get involved with AEC to get some exposure to the oil and gas industry and to gain experience planning a large scale event. Some things that I enjoy doing are cooking/baking, skiing, and going to concerts and music festivals!

Hi! my name is Melinda Chisholm and I am the Vice President Corporate Relations for the 2019 AEC team. I am in my final year of a Bachelor of a Commerce degree with a major in Business Economics and Business Law and a minor in Strategic Management. I am also a Certification in Real Estate student, and was part of the University of Alberta team that won first place at the NAIOP Battle of Alberta competition this March for a real estate development proposal. Professionally, I work as a licensed REALTOR® at a brokerage that I helped found and co-own. Upon graduating, I am looking to expand from residential sales into commercial sales or real estate development.

I am a returning member of the Alberta Energy Challenge executive team. Serving last year as our Vice President Internal, I fell in love with the dynamic and immersive nature of the challenge and is thrilled to be returning for the 2019 Challenge. In what little spare time I have left, you can find me searching for new/emerging local music to support, or spending time with my friends and family!

My name is Nina Laurence, I am in my fourth year of my Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. I am one of the chairs for the 2019 AEC team. I am especially interested in environmental chemistry and its application to alternative energy sources. I am looking forward to starting research in the winter term. After graduation I hope to work in the oil field as an application chemist.
I have worked in reclamation of abandoned oil wells for the past two years, which led to my initial interest in Alberta’s energy sector. Last year I was a team ambassador for AEC, I had an incredible experience and decided to become more involved this year!
