Behind the Pack – Part 2: Planning & Preparation
Welcome back to Behind the Pack—our series where we take you behind the scenes of what it really takes to deliver successful water transfer operations.
In Part 1, we explained what water transfer services are.
Now we're stepping back even further—to where every successful project actually begins.
Before operations begin, every job goes through a detailed planning process designed to build the most efficient solution for the project.
It starts by working closely with our clients to understand the project's objectives, production requirements, timelines, environmental considerations, and operating conditions.
From there, our team designs the entire transfer system by evaluating:
• Water source and destination
• Required flow rate, pumping duration, and transfer volume
• Hose routing, transfer distance, terrain, and elevation changes
• Pump placement, equipment requirements, and crew size
Every decision influence the next. The route determines the hose layout, elevation changes determine pump requirements, and operational objectives shape how the entire transfer system is engineered.
At the same time, we coordinate equipment availability, schedule personnel, complete compliance verification, and confirm that every component is prepared before mobilization.
By understanding the project before work begins, we're able to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and ensure our crews arrive ready to execute the plan safely and effectively.
Because great field ex*****on doesn't happen by chance.
It starts with great planning.
