Over the next eight weeks, 16 wind turbines destined for the Weavers Mountain Wind Energy Project will make their way from the Strait of Canso to Pictou County. With blades measuring more than 80 metres in length, this is one of the largest transportation efforts ever undertaken for a renewable energy project in the province.
A project of this scale requires extensive planning and coordination. We would like to thank the teams at the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works, including Traffic, Highway Planning and Design, Structures and Operations Services, as well as the Department of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services, and the Department of Energy and Mines, for their collaboration and support in helping ensure the safe and efficient transport of these components.
It’s an exciting milestone as the project moves closer to delivering clean, locally generated electricity to Nova Scotians!
