Please read full post- thank you! β€οΈ
We are happy to announce that the Aldergrove Community Christmas party and Parade have been rescheduled to Saturday December 21st.
The Party & Parade times have not changed.
The Party is 4-6 pm at 272nd street and Fraser Highway. The Parade 6-7 pm on Fraser Highway from 270th-273rd streets.
A heartfelt thank you to the Township of Langley and Township Traffic Ltd. for their Quick responses in providing critical permissions, permits and logistics needed to make this happen!
Thank you also to the Aldergrove Star and the Langley Advance Times for your amazing support this morning and always!
It has been a hectic morning for the team and I am so grateful to each one for their part in helping to bring this together for our community!
Our hearts go out to those who worked so hard and dedicated their time to prepare parade entries and are not able to shift to the new date.
Please watch for a future post just for you, regarding sharing photos and a prize from our generous sponsors.
We are encouraging anyone who would like join the parade event this Saturday to reach out to us through the Aldergrove Fair website at www.aldergrovefair.ca/parades to register.
Deadline for these new registrants is Thursday December 19th by noon.
We have been in ongoing contact with the previously registered participants so they know they do not need to re-register but rather just let us know if they can make it for the new date.
This magical 30 plus year annual event originally scheduled for Saturday December 14th was cancelled due to high winds and caution for the safety of our children and community on the whole.
The weather Saturday was quite variable from community to community and events such as the Light Show at Williams Park in Langley was also cancelled for safety concerns.
We have received overwhelming support from most people in the community, (including the Fire Department and RCMP) thanking us for making a responsible decision and putting safety over our own desires and concern for our four months of effort.
This was an incredibly hard decision to make, but in light of the terrible tragedies we saw on the news that resulted from the storm, as the leader of the volunteer Aldergrove Christmas Committe, I am thankful to be standing on the side of disappointment rather than regret.
We hope to see all of you at the events this weekend and look forward to serving you!
