It's that time of the year again. Time to get your HVAC equipment checked by a professional. One of the main reasons to schedule your HVAC maintenance each year, is to ensure your manufacturer warranty stays valid. Another, is to ensure you and your families' comfort. Over time, systems start performing less efficiently. Due to natural wear and tear, components can wear down - similar to the maintenance of your vehicle.

Maintenance also keeps you safe. This is particularly true with gas-powered heating systems. A cracked heat exchanger can lead to very harmful problems, such as exposing you to high levels of carbon monoxide gas. With regular maintenance, we can alert you to these types of problems so that you can have repairs conducted right away.

Is it time to replace your gas furnace?

- Repair or replace? Here are a few things to keep in mind when making that decision.

1. Age of furnace:
- average lifespan of a furnace is 15-20 years (we suggest to start budgeting for a new furnace after 15 years). Efficiency starts to decrease as the furnace ages.

2. Updates in technology:
- newer equipment is more efficient, more user friendly and more reliable.

3. Repair costs:
- if you are planning to be in your home for the long-term, and your furnace has been requiring more repairs that exceed 50% of the cost of a new furnace, a newer furnace may be required.
