๐ŸŒฟ Chi Mino Ozhitoowin was proud to have our Chief Executive Officer, Peter Collins, serve as a guest speaker at the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Leaders Luncheon: People Powering the North โ€“ Actionable Insights Into Navigating the Current Labour Shortage.

This important discussion brought together leaders from education, policy, business, and major project development to speak about workforce needs across Northwestern Ontario, and the role that meaningful Indigenous partnerships must play in building strong, sustainable pathways forward.

From a First Nation lens, workforce development is about more than filling positions. It is about creating space for our people, honouring relationships, strengthening community capacity, and ensuring that opportunities connected to major projects lead to long-term benefits for First Nation communities.

Peter shared Chi Mino Ozhitoowinโ€™s perspective on the importance of training, employment, procurement, and relationship-building as we continue working alongside our participating First Nations and partners through the Waasigan Transmission Line Project.

Miigwech to the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce for creating space for this conversation, and to all who continue to support meaningful economic reconciliation and opportunity in the North.

Chi Mino Ozhitoowin will be closed for the holiday weekend.

As we pause for the long weekend, we acknowledge the importance of rest, family, community, and time spent on the land. These moments allow us to reconnect, reflect, and return with good energy to continue the work we do together.

Our office will reopen following the holiday weekend on Tuesday, May, 19 at 9 am.

From all of us at Chi Mino Ozhitoowin, we wish everyone a safe, peaceful, and meaningful long weekend.

Miigwech.

๐ŸŽ“โœจ Congratulations to our Heavy Equipment Operator Program Students! โœจ๐ŸŽ“
Chi Mino Ozhitoowin is proud to congratulate the HEO students on their successful completion of the Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program.

Last Friday, we gathered at the Best Western Norโ€™Wester Resort & Conference Centre to celebrate this important milestone with students, families, partners, and supporters. It was a meaningful afternoon recognizing the dedication, growth, and hard work each student put into this program.

This training represents more than the completion of a course โ€” it reflects opportunity, confidence, and continued pathways into skilled trades and careers connected to the Waasigan Transmission Line Project and beyond.

A heartfelt congratulations to each of them. We are proud of you and excited to see where this next step takes you. ๐Ÿ‘
