What do you think is the difference between these two images?

The left side is the emissions associated with washing your clothes in hot water and the right side is for cold water! Such a small change makes a huge difference when it comes to environmental impact.

If you choose to wash your clothes by hand, that reduces your environmental impact even more! The numbers however, are for washing your clothes in washing machines.

Consider small tweaks to help reduce your carbon footprint, and offset the rest with SimpliZero!

Did you know that laundry has a huge impact on our carbon footprint? The good news is small tweaks can reduce that significantly.

Here are a few tips:
1. Buy environmentally friendly detergent that preferably doesn't come in plastic packaging.
2. Skip the dryer. Hang your clothes instead.
3. Wash your clothes in cold water instead of hot. Save on energy used to heat the water for your wash.
4. Most jeans, sweaters, and even t-shirts can be worn a few times between washes. Gauge it for yourself, but try and maximize wears and minimize washes!
5. Do laundry when you have enough clothes to wash!

Ever wondered why there are so many settings on your washing machine and dryer? Other than adjusting the temperature your clothes are washed at and for how long, each setting emits a different amount of carbon.

The most carbon intense setting is heat. The energy required to heat the water to wash your clothes is immense. The duration also factors in, the longer the machine is running, the more energy is being consumed.

Who would have thought that there are so many things to consider when washing your clothes sustainably!?
