Why vote for a trustee if trustees currently have no governing powers?

It’s a fair question.

Right now, the TDSB is under provincial supervision, which means the provincially appointed Supervisor holds the powers trustees would normally exercise.

But Ward 10 still elects a representative.

That means voters are still choosing who holds the seat for the new term, who stays connected to local families and schools, and who is ready to step into the full trustee role when governance responsibilities return.

This election is about what comes next.

Who represents Ward 10 still matters.

Vote Marisa Sterling on October 26.

Parents deserve a trustee who shows up.

At the recent TDSB Parent Involvement Advisory Committee meeting, Marisa was the only trustee candidate in attendance.

That matters.

PIAC exists to bring parent and caregiver voices into board level conversations. When families take the time to show up, ask questions, raise concerns and advocate for their children, their elected representative should be willing to do the same.

For Marisa, representation starts with listening, learning and being present.

Ward 10 deserves a trustee who does more than make promises. It deserves someone who shows up.

Vote Marisa Sterling on October 26.

An endorsement from someone who knows this role and this community first hand. After eight years of serving Beaches East York as TDSB trustee, Michelle Aarts is stepping aside after 2 terms and has endorsed Marisa Sterling to represent the newly formed ward 10.

Michelle has spent years working directly with students, parents, educators and school communities accross Beaches East York. Her support for Marisa means a great deal to our campaign.

Thank you Michelle for your years of service to public education and your confidence in Marisa as ward 10 enters it’s next chapter.

An endorsement that means a great deal to us.
Kathleen Wynne, a former TDSB trustee, Ontario Minister of Education & Premier of Ontario, has endorsed Marisa Sterling for TDSB trustee in Ward 10.

Kathleen speaks to Marisas decades of community leadership, her work mentoring and supporting young people and the thoughtful, calm approach she would bring to board table.

Thank you Kathleen Wynne for your confidence and support!

27 Students. 3 Grades. 1 Classroom.

At The Grove Community School, a TDSB staffing reorganization combined students from grades 4, 5 and 6 into one classroom.

The reorganization is raising parental questions concerns about the schools ability to effectively provide individual students the attention and care they need. Especially as 3 separate curricula are expected to be delivered by one teacher.

Marisa Sterling, trustee candidate has said she would advocate for clearer class size limits and stronger school level staffing. Her campaign aims to project the voices of concerned families and parents and include their opinions into decisions that affect their children’s education.
