Throwback to this total stair rebuild in Mount Pleasant last year. With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start planning your patio and porch upgrades for the summer. ☀️

The original staircase had succumbed to rot, so we rebuilt it from the ground up with a focus on high-performance materials and heritage aesthetics.

The Technical Details:
• The Foundation: Full removal of the old rot, replaced with new pressure-treated framing.

• The Steps: For the treads, we chose PVC in Alaskan Driftwood. We love this product because it has a more authentic, textured look similar to real wood or composite—different from the smoother finish of TimberTech Advanced PVC.

• Custom Finish: For the risers and stringer skirts, we used Azek Frontier. These were carefully mitered, primed, and painted to perfectly match the existing porch railings.

• Heritage Charm: We kept the original look of the home by using kiln-dry cedar for the railings.

Built for the Vancouver Climate:
We don’t just build for looks; we build for longevity. To prevent moisture from causing premature rot, we oil-primed all the cedar first and used high-performance Quad Max caulking during the install.

The Bayshore Drive After & Before 🏙️✨

Following up on our recent post! Here are the dramatic after and before photos of this 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Coal Harbour condo transformation. We are leading with the finished, high-impact results, but swipe through to see the original space we started with!

Working in collaboration with SMC Interior Design, every detail was engineered for precision.

Elevating the outdoor experience, one step at a time. 🪜✨

We just wrapped up this stunning outdoor project in heart of Kerrisdale, and the details truly make the difference. We utilized TimberTech advanced PVC for the treads and their Frontier for the stringer skirts to ensure weather-resistant durability that looks beautiful year-round, paired with sleek stainless steel cable railings to keep the sightlines open and modern.

Design Details:
• Double-Wide Steps: We custom-designed these treads to be two boards deep (approx. 11 inches). This adds significant comfort and safety, giving you a solid, spacious footing with every step.
• Integrated Lighting: Safety meets ambiance. We installed Lumenstar step lights flush to the step nosing to guide the way and create a warm, inviting glow after sunset. 🌙

• Custom Seating: To maximize functionality without cluttering the deck, we built custom benches that seamlessly match the decking profile—perfect for lounging or entertaining.

Kerrisdale: An Engineering Masterpiece of Outdoor Living

This is not just a deck and pergola—it’s an exhibition of structural innovation, superior materials, and seamless luxury designed for year-round enjoyment.

Structural Innovation & Durability
Every detail speaks to quality. The lower deck was finished in durable, waterproof vinyl, built on a cantilevered structure—a brilliant, post-free design that serves two functions: it seamlessly covers the garage entrance door for weather protection and supports the entire weight of the custom TimberTech advanced PVC staircase above it.

The primary pergola frame is built from premium kiln dry Douglas Fir, utilizing Simpson Strong-Tie hidden connectors for a clean, furniture-grade aesthetic where no hardware is visible. For the perimeter, we used Azek Frontier PVC for the exterior fascia, guaranteeing decades of resistance to rot and moisture.

Unmatched Luxury and Comfort
The functional details are just as impressive. The staircase features integrated Lumenstar LED hardscape lights for safety and ambiance. The slightly tinted glass roof allows beautiful light while reducing glare. For ultimate comfort, the main area includes a remote-control ceiling fan and powerful remote-control gas heaters. Complete the control with automated retractable blinds for instant shade and privacy.

Out with the old, in with the new! 🙌 Our newest porch stair build project just got a major upgrade with this stunning, high-performance staircase. We opted for Azek PVC stringer skirts and risers for minimal maintenance. We also tried out PVC Alaskan Driftwood for the steps that resembles the texture of composite but without the draws backs for incredible durability against the elements.

But we also wanted to maintain the original charm, so we carefully replicated the look of the existing railings with beautiful, tight-knot cedar. These new railings were oil-primed and sealed tight with Quad Max caulk before painting for long-lasting protection in this rainy Vancouver climate.

So pleased with the result – a perfect blend of longevity and timeless aesthetics! ✨

Out with the old rotten stairs and in with the new and improved! Peep the before and in-progress shots of this stair rebuild. We prioritized durability and longevity with the new materials utilizing the concept of the four D’s of building envelope—Deflection, Drainage, Drying and Durability—ensuring the staircase will last for years to come.

Another bathroom reno wrapped up in Vancouver, our second at Henley Court, False Creek.

Customer wanted to age in place so we removed the old tub and replaced it with a curbed shower pan with a foldable bench seat and added grab bars for safety.

For waterproofing we used curbed shower system. Grouted walls and floor with Mapei Kerapoxy.

Master ensuite curbless shower bathroom reno recently completed in North Vancouver.

Careful planning went into this from the on set, especially by the designer.

The room was enlarged and specifically built to accommodate full tile in the width and in the height. The shower area was recessed to allow for a curbless entry with a Schluter linear drain and solid grate.

The plumbing and fixtures were positioned symmetrically either on the grout line or center of tile.

Tiles were grouted with Mapei Kerapoxy grout which will keep the grout looking clean and maintenance free over time.

We also added 1” plywood onto the new pocket door frame wall to support the 10mm glass shower door.
